Hawking Radiation creates bad Jim Carrey movies!

According to the news, do a google news search for physics, they're beginning to study hawking radiation created by miniblack holes in super colliders. These tiny things last very short periods, and under such small sizes are completely unable to cause any serious damage to there surroundings. But they last long enough for scientists to stard doing studies of them specifically. And in the end they hope to understand what happens inside a black hole beyond the event horizon, and in doing close the gaps between relativity and QM.

And in news completely unrelated, Stephen Hawking was on Conan, and LIKES CABLE GUY!!!

When did they succeed in producing microblackholes? I was unaware that they had used quantum gravitic affects yet to do that.

According to the article I saw, extremely small bh's can be created during proton-antiproton collisions and other high energy occurances, cosmic rays for example create shortlived angstromholes.

I saw that episode too! I never heard that new brane theory of Hawking's that Carrey spouted...But I like it! Big-Bang revisionism without the Creationism!
