Don't even attempt it. There are far too many differences between NTFS and the usual Linux partitions to make this work.

From what I understand, ext3 is even better than NTFS.


But seriously, unless you're planning to do something that absolutely requires the advantages that Linux offers, don't bother using Linux.

And no, playing Quake is not one of the advantages Linux can help in.

I'm not so hot on ext3; I've been playing around with XFS and ReiserFS.

I got my Windows XP Pro for free, so cost is a non-issue. :mrgreen:

And yes, I've tinkered with Mandrake 9.0, so I've had the Linux experience first-hand (I've dual-booted too).

i have linux for two purposes -- i like it, and its good for saving data when windows dies.
