Googles some pages for ya

And I would add that the the TV situation was horrible.

If there was no American in that event, the event did't air.

If you watched the TV you could easely mistake the event for somesort of american sports event and not a event where the whole world was involved.

And all that fucking commersials and branding everywhere...

Wow, were there ever any real bad issues with Sydney's Olympics?

Cool, all I heard was that we apparently beat the crap out of Atlanta. But as I live in Sydney I figured a possible bias.

Not from Australia's side of it as far as I know. Here in the US it was still broadcast by the same network (NBC et all) so it was nearly as biased and crapy as the Atlanta games. We still had mega sappiness. We still had US reporters glossing ("nothing's proven yet") over anything bad about US athletes while asking "hard hitting" questions of other country's athletes. I'm embarrassed for the US just about every time I see Jim Grey interview someone, but he's supposed to be one of our "tougher" sports reporters  It's freakin' sports! If he wants to be a hard hitting reporter then go do it somewhere it matters.

These are the Olympics. You'd think that once every four years it would be okay for the news media to not act like a bunch of tabloid assholes. If something questionable is proved then air it but don't ruin the moment by speculating about things or by asking assinine direct questions of other countries' athletes. If our reporters want to be hardassed towards our athletes fine, since they also kiss their asses but in the spirit of the Olympics I wish we'd stop with all the biased crap.

Personally, I just wish there was a series of Olympic broadcast channels so we could watch 24/7 for any event without all of the junk.

Hell no! They'd have to completely revamp the entire road system to handle that volume of traffic, even with the current FL60 and I275/I4/I75 projects in the area, nevermind US19.

from what i have heard the 2004 Athens games are in danger of being a disaster. massive cost overruns, delays, projects that should have been done last year still not finished. I have even heard that if the Greeks don't get their act together the IOC has threatened to pull the games and send them back to Sydney. anyone else hear this? i mean day what you will about the US games, but at least we built the stadiums on time.

The states shouldn't get it, by virtue of having held it so many times, New York state has had it twice.

Some country which hasn't yet held the olympics should get it.

I agree with you, Ted: a country that hasn't yet had the Olympics should get to host it. That's only fair, to spread the wealth and the experience around as much as possible.

However, if it doesn't go to a country that hasn't had it before, I wouldn't be against New York, if only because it would be nice to show the world that the city is just as vibrantly alive as ever. If New York wins, I'll bet the committee that selects it will be thinking along similar lines.

I've heard that, doubt it will happen though.
