Ah but I have read through all of godawful fanfics and Portal and SD's Rampant, so I'd only need that one to complete my collection of really bad fics.

The board no longer has it on file because the moderators deleted it.

It's safe to say the fic no longer exists aside from scattered memories of people who are desperately trying to repress it and in the mind of its author. Most of us would prefer even fewer remnants.

I think Neon Exodus Evangelion takes the cake. It's been so long ago and so bad that I can't quite remember if that's the real name, but it's an Evangelion 'fic where Shinji is replaced by a guy named TJ, who is...

The worst part is that I recall having a mini-debate on the Mekton Zeta Mailing List about it, because one of the author's cronies there insisted that it was a great piece of fanfiction and I should lay off the poor guy.

EDIT: Okay, I've found it again. eyrie.net is home of the stooges who wrote this trainwreck, and elmerstudios.com has most of the MSTings of it. Now that I've dredged this info up and re-exposed myself to NXE, I think I need a drink. A big drink. Booze ahoy!

I was actually disappointed that it got deleted, as I never got a chance to read it.

Actually, it's Lord Derek Joshua "DJ" Croft, Earl of Crofthenge-in-Northants. The final chapter of NXE ("Apotheosis Now") just came out last week, and weighs in at over 500kB. Neon Exodus Evangelion actually becomes quite good if you consider it an X-COM/In Nomine/Marathon crossover that just happens to feature some Evangelion characters and situations instead of as an Evangelion fanfic. If you can ignore DJ for the first season and a half (before the authors severely toned him down in twinkage), more power to you.

Of course, NXE held back quite a bit already; all of Eyrie Production's other fanfics are self-inserts, whereas NXE simply features a Mary Sue that rivals Marissa Picard. These all share commonalities, though -- they're usually technically well-written and amongst the best-edited fanfics around, save for the superpowered avatars and exaggerated, almost comic-bookish plot. Undocumented Features is essentially required reading for anyone getting into anime fanfiction due to being one of the first ones written (and one of the only ones with surviving copies over the past two decades).

On another note in this subject, I guess that I didn't have the misfortune of reading RayCav's fic before it was deleted. I suppose that from what I recall of RayCav, Kanashii no Imi would be downright tame compared to it.

NXE:TMP wasn't too bad, but IMHO, their homage to Rachel was rather overblown for much of the story. She needed to be toned down a bit.

Ben has openly stated that early NXE was pretty bad; by the third 'season' he improved markedly, but DJ is still rather overdone. It's Eyrie's big flaw, IMHO - they tend to make their main characters far too overpowered.

I enjoy UF, but their latest SOS stuff is creeping into NXE-levels of overpowered characters. It's beginning to turn me off; I liked the character growth of the early SOS, not the more combat-oriented later stuff.

I just jumped in on the last page, so forgive me if this has been mentioned.

The worst fanfic I ever read was a Tenchi Muyo! anti-fic called Tenchi on a Plate of Sashimi. I'm not going to describe it, except that it features horribly violent and incestual sex. It almost made me vomit (it actually did make one of its MSTing authors throw up, too).

The second worse was a lemon Tenchi Muyo! fanfic that featured heavy amounts of self-insertion, where some guy gets Jurai powers by breast feeding from Achika as a baby. He proceeds to out do Tenchi is combat, beat Sario and call him a faggot, sleep wih Kiyone (and others, I think), and a whole bunch of other stupid shit that made my eyes almost roll out of my skull:

1. Washu making Sasami a PSX fighting game with the extended Masaki family, including Wonder Boy
2. Sasami getting her Tsunami powers as if it were puberty.
3. IIRC, Ayeka and Ryoko paying more attention to WB than to Tenchi.

And I that's all I'm going to remember. I want to forget that masturbation tissue of a fic...

Neon Exodus Evangelion... I disliked the new characters and storyline, but I have to give them points for technical execution and the characterizations of native players (the people from the series behaved in pretty much the way that I would have expected. Then again, my understanding of the series is fairly limited...)

When it comes to worst fics, It would certainly be Raycav's "porn". It was just...evil. Portal comes a close second, but at least it didn't make me throw up...
