Funny as hell.
I had 18/20 in the final exame. The classes were a waste of time. The idiots teaching us never realize that we learn all the necessary math for the fucking chair in the first year of college, and that a week study is more than enough to memorize the theorical concepts they hold so dear.
Yep, my prof was a noob, and he liked that fact that I thought out of the box and SOLVED THE PROBLEM instead of focusing on the math.

Nice guy. spent lots of time "tutoring" people in the pub.

In taking Mechanical Engineering, you have wonderful hard classes like "Fluid Mechanics", "Aerodynamics", "System Analysis", etc.

And then you have Materials I & II
And Production Management I & II

Believe me, some classes are an insult to your intelligence. It's better just not to go there.
Ah. Math is not exactly my best subject- I'm stuck in a Level 2 class with retarded morons who have difficulty doing (n - 2) + (2n + 1).

And I'm not kidding. We just spent an entire week on that subject. Basically, I struggled a bit in 5th grade and early 6th grade, and due to the retarded school system I can't jump up a level because everyone in the advanced classes is lightyears ahead of me.

Grr. End rant.

Update

Post by Vympel »

She called me this morning as I was getting out of bed (yeah, it was 10ish, so sue me)

It was about uni (she's not coming in this friday either) but somehow the conversation went for some 15-20 mins- covered a few subjects including future career etc (dont ask me how at that time of morning)- I got her phone number without any hesitation, and asked her for the date of her next gig so I could go (in 2 1/2 weeks or so).

So here's the thing- do I ring before hand and ask her out, or wait for the gig?

Ask her out beforehand...be it what you will.

The gig itself serves as a perfect second date, and the only problem I see with it as a first date is how far away it is.

Her gig would not be a good first date because she'll be busy doing things other than talking to you. It's so "safe" that you might not even be able to get a word in edgewise while she's talking to other people and doing other things. On the other hand, if she's skittish, that safety factor couldn't hurt in asking for a real date afterwards, and then you'd have an easy topic of conversation when you go out with her for real (you can ask her about how she got into singing, etc).

Why don't you just ask to have lunch with her at the uni or something?

I had that on my mind actually, it prolly wouldn't even be a date, I'd just be going to see, with a 50/50 chance of getting an opportunity to do anything with her afterwards.

I'm leaning towards asking beforehand- she did ask who I was doing research with, I replied my aforementioned female friend (who doesn't like her), and she said something to the effect of "3 minds are better than 2". Which is true, and I left it open, saying that I didn't know when I'd be researching anything. So I can either call up and get a real date, or use research as an opener, with the possible caveat of my friend boring holes into the back of her neck.

A three-person situation is probably not good, especially if two of them don't like each other. You could always just do what I did, which is to pester her to come get a bite to eat with you. Imagine something like the following conversation:

GUY: So, are you hungry? Do you feel like getting a sandwich?
GIRL: I'm not really hungry.
GUY: My treat.
GIRL: Ummm, I don't know ...
GUY: Well, if you're not hungry, you can just come watch me eat.
GIRL (smirk): Why would I want to do that?
GUY: Because while you're watching me eat, you'll get hungry.
GIRL: Why would I want to get hungry?
GUY: So I can buy you a sandwich.
GIRL: But I don't really feel like a sandwich.
GUY: You want me to beg, don't you?
GIRL: OK, OK, let's go!

I know, it sounds pathetic, but I ended up going out with her, so don't knock it 8)

Goddamit. Spoke to her tonight for some 40mins- was a pretty good conversation too- unfortunately, she's not single. How do I like that? Well, it's disappointing.

Oh well.

Yeah. *sigh*

Oh well, if a girl is going to flirt like that when she's with someone, I guess she hasn't got her shit straightened out.

I already have one of those :)

Nah, in reality I haven't known her that long for that to be the case, though we did sustain quite a long phone conversation ...
