Perhaps this has already been done, but since I've not the time to dig through countless archive posts, it'll be done again if it has, so...........
Master of Orion (I or II -- pick your choice) is an outstanding space-based strategy game (MOO3 will be out some day, so they say...). Within the game is an imposing ship called the Guardian, which generally proceeds to give visiting ships a bad day. The thing has "death rays" and about a dozen other nasty things it spews forth toward unwanted guests. Defeating the thing allows the player to take possession of Orion.
Likely, we can't compare weapon systems between the Guardian and an ISD, but just for fun, let's pontificate on which one would win in a slug-fest.

The Guardian is defeated rather easily with Plasma cannons and they are only about 4 times more powerful than Phasers.

I've only played Orion I, and the Guardian seemed pretty easy in that, didn't really need lots of high powered weapons, just lots and lots of them, and an ISD has both
The Guardian for me was only ever a pain in the ass for my colony ship, I send it to that nice new world and it gets blasted to hell by the Guardian.

Actually the Guardian from the original Master of Orion would slaughter any ISD. The ranges represented in game are quite long because weapons like Lasers are really meant as lasers. Additionally attacks are represented in a fassion of real time per say. Turns in game represent years, but in combat turns represent just seconds, maybe minutes. Ships loaded with Mauler Devices and Death Rays are capable of utterly destroying a planet in just a few volleys. The Guardian has Death Rays and a torpedo of some sort (which is even more powerful).
The game uses names such as phasers and plasma cannons (which are purely beam bassed). The intro to the game also features a ship that looks an awful lot like a Klingon D7 (at least the front of it does). But they are similar to ST and SW in name only. If you take into account Master of Orion 2, the Stellar Converter can be placed on any mid sized ship yet is capable of compeltely cracking a planet into pieces. The Master of Orion forces also have the technology to form an asteroid field into planets.
