Now if they broke into the middle of the movie with a "And now a word from our sponsors." I could understand.(emphasis mine)
That would ROYALLY SuX0r!! Lawsuit all the way for that, but as of now, no.

You don't even have to sneak it in here, we openly walk in with bags full of stuff.

The big deal is some of theatres list the movie starting at 9pm then when you arrive, you find out the movie starts at 9:10pm instead of what's listed. That's their grounds for a lawsuit which I see no problem with. If you want to go in 20 mins before the movie starts to get a good seat and watch some ads that's fine.

I saw Bruce Almighty last night, and we had a bunch of ads

Had a very annoying Nascar Coke advertisement~ I hate Nascar, and I hate most of the fans, since most of them are racist redneck assbitches
"Right now we can tell you a report was filed by the family of a 12 year old boy yesterday afternoon alleging Mr. Michael Jackson of criminal activity. A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."

I still don't see what the big deal is. Here's an idea. Instead of another stupid ass lawsuit, just do what I do, ignore them. They're not hurting anyone, or thing.

Okay, I guess I have to get medieval on all your asses.

First: DO NOT COMPLAIN ABOUT THE PRICES OF CONCESSIONS
Concessions is the ONLY way theaters earn money. ALL box office money goes back to the grubby movie companies until the movie has been out for a contracted amount of weeks. But, even then, the percentage the theater gets is under 30%.

Second: While I agree about TV commercials before movies, previews are important. IT is just another way to get money to run the theater in the first place.

IMHO, the movie theatres would make more money from *me* if the concession prices were cheaper as I don't buy anything from them. I hope they have their supply/demand curve worked out.

As for trailers, I like the ones that are cool. :P

For the ads and trailers I don't like, I just switch my brain off until I see something interesting/the feature.

I love having the trailers before the movie. As they give me more time to get to the theater if I'm late, plus time to go to the restroom and afterward pick up drinks and stuff before the movie starts. I despise the Pepsi commericals.

I think what's worse than trailers, ads, or product plugs is when the theater pipes in the scent of yummy hot-buttered popcorn into the ticket lobby! Gets me all the time! :)

There is a reason the vent above the popper blows right into the theater. ;) (of course when they burn it, it's annoying. Gah!)

I don't like the commercials, but they don't bother me that much. Though I think that if the theater lists a certain time, then the movie should start at that time, not commercials or previews.

I dunno what theaters you goto, but the only ads I see are the ones shown prior to the movie trailers being shown, which are sent in by Coca-Cola. Those are still pictures shown through the projector, and are easily ignored. The only sound you hear is the radio playing a local station. The only 'trailer' I saw remotely advertising anything is the one for the marines (the dude climing the rock) when I went to see X-Men 2 and Matrix 2. Again, that was easily ignored.
