A Birthday Story

Post by RogueIce »

It all begin yesterday, when I spent the vast majority of the day searching for what I thought would be a nice birthday present for a friend. I started at about 1000 and finally found it at about 1700. Yep, seven hours looking for this thing. It was a new purse, because she said she wanted a new one. So I spent the day searching for what I thought would be a nice purse, and went through two fairly good sized malls too (for Tampa residents, University Mall and "Westfield Shoppingtown" which is better known by it's old name, Brandon Town Center). I even got a friend of mine to help look to find the right purse.

So, there I was, spending my Memorial Day looking for a purse for her. Finally, I found it. It seemed just right: large enough to be useful, small enough to fit in her backpack; loose straps, for ease of backpack stuffing; it could stand on it's own bottom, without falling over; it was black, making it somewhat easier to match with clothes (or so I guess, though since my fashion sense is nil, I'm sure the female members will mercilessly correct me). I think it also important to note that I tried calling her five times, to see what she would like.

In other words, I went through a lot of effort on this one.

However, I could never reach her all day. Her phone was on, yet she never once answered it (it's a cell phone...why have it on if you're not gonna answer? But I digress...). So I left it with a friend to give to her in school the next day (since they released Seniors, I can't get back on campus without signing in, and to do so, I need a good reason. A reason I did not have.). And so, it was given.

Now, I have no clue about what her reaction was when she got it, though my friend said she loved it. However, this friend also had some other news to give me...

She already got a new purse.

Yep. That's my luck for you. I go through an entire day trying to get just the right gift, and she already got one herself. *sigh*

So, what's the moral of this story? Well, it's either, "Make sure they know what you plan to get them so they don't get it themselves" or "If you have a cell phone, and you keep it on, answer it." You decide. :|

Awwwwwww. *hugs RI*

Ok, first of all, that was very sweet, to spend so long looking for a present for her. Most guys would have given up 6 hours and 50 minutes before you did, so--*kisses cheek*

Second of all, black is the perfect colour to get, because it does go with just about everything.

Thirdly, all women have multiple purses. A black one and a brown one at LEAST. Sometimes they (like my mom) have a dressy one, a casual one, a winter one, a spring one, etc.... So don't kick yourself. Chances are VERY slim that the other one she got was anything like yours, and as I already stated, chicks usually have a few different ones. A purse is an accessory! It's hard to have too many of those!

First of all IMO it was very nice of you to spend your day looking for a present for your friend. Furthermore Zaia's right, women buy multiple purses so you don't need to kick yourself over that.

Thanks. She's worth all that time, and more. Been a very good friend to me, so it was hardly an imposition.

And she said she'll keep the purse. The one she got was khaki, so you're right, it wasn't anything like what I got her. And this way, if one purse wears out, she always has another.
