So, there I was, spending my Memorial Day looking for a purse for her. Finally, I found it. It seemed just right: large enough to be useful, small enough to fit in her backpack; loose straps, for ease of backpack stuffing; it could stand on it's own bottom, without falling over; it was black, making it somewhat easier to match with clothes (or so I guess, though since my fashion sense is nil, I'm sure the female members will mercilessly correct me). I think it also important to note that I tried calling her five times, to see what she would like.
In other words, I went through a lot of effort on this one.
However, I could never reach her all day. Her phone was on, yet she never once answered it (it's a cell phone...why have it on if you're not gonna answer? But I digress...). So I left it with a friend to give to her in school the next day (since they released Seniors, I can't get back on campus without signing in, and to do so, I need a good reason. A reason I did not have.). And so, it was given.
Now, I have no clue about what her reaction was when she got it, though my friend said she loved it. However, this friend also had some other news to give me...
She already got a new purse.
Yep. That's my luck for you. I go through an entire day trying to get just the right gift, and she already got one herself. *sigh*
So, what's the moral of this story? Well, it's either, "Make sure they know what you plan to get them so they don't get it themselves" or "If you have a cell phone, and you keep it on, answer it." You decide.
