Targeting Mexicans in commertials.

Post by Anarchist Bunny »

It may be because I live in Texas, but I'm really getting annoyed at the way companies are trying to target mexicans in commertials. Pepsi adding Si to all of its cans to try to sell it to mexicans. What the fuck, "See, we understand you culture, we put one of the simplest words in your language on our cans, and advertise it based on hispanic stereotypes."

And the McDonalds one is worse of all, it seems to be their normal bullshit comertials and then near the end is has a guy say "And spice it up with jalapenos" And when he says jalapenos he switches his voice to such a think spanish accent it makes me cringe. I almost expect them to add on an "aiiiiii" to it.

I'll agree with you on the second part, but I presume you're joking about the Pepsi bit, as originally, it was a medicine to cure dyspepsia (which is essentially stomach upset.)

Let the Freemarket flow, dude. I'd rather have a splangish culture than, say, a Francophone one.

Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."

And this is different from all the pandering and manipulation that advertisements already do exactly how? Because we can tell that it is pandering? Sure, I support you in your righteous indignation, but maybe not for all the reasons you'd think.

You spelled it wrong too: There are two "m"s. However, it's probably a mistake form tytping too fast.

Anyway, what can I say: Commercials are annoying, and I'm sure the people maknig are finding ways to make them even more annoying.
