Just pre-ordered a couple tickets for the upcoming Iron Maiden concert at Irvine Meadows. If any of you guys in the area are interested, check out http://www.ironmaiden.com -- the tickets officially go on sale tomorrow, but they're pre-selling for the fans now.

I wonder how long it'll take for this show to sell out...

British power metal band. Not quite heavy metal, but the genre is so mixed up anyway.

heheh I saw them twice, on the Somewhere in Time and the Seventh Son tours.
They rocked \m/ \m/!!

7th Son had a great show opener too. Pitch black, and a long, echoing keyboard intro that, after several minutes in the dark, built up to a mighty crescendo. The climax broke with every single light on the stage flaring up, three giant flashpots of flame, and the band flying out the background, jumping through the air, only to land on their feet rocking out.

Oh, and wear earplugs. They are (or at least, used to be) insanely loud, make-your-teeth-hurt loud. Louder than AC/DC loud.

Was that an enclosed concert you went to, or open air? Irvine Meadows is a 15,000 seat open amphitheatre...

Inside, both times, in an arena that was designed for basketball games, not accoustics. Outdoor venues aren't quite as bad for sound pressure levels though, unless you're right in front of the mains. If your tickets are up close, and in the center, you should be fine.

Well, that's a relief. Yeah, the tickets I got are for seats that are in the middle and a little off to one side, so at least I don't have to deal with piss-drunk boors on the lawn.

And anyway, if I wanted to have my eardrums broken, I'd go to a Manowar concert. After all, they're the ones in the Guiness Book of World Records for being nearly as loud as a 747 on takeoff...

(Not that Manowar is a bad band, I like them a lot.)

Cool. They should sound great outside. Most metal/hard rock concerts sound better outdoors imo, less stray echos = less distortion (the bad kind)

Ah, if only Blue Cheer and The Who could still tour :)
