Ask The Jedi Council Sansweet Question...

Post by Illuminatus Primus »

Ask the Jedi Council: Sansweet wrote:Q: Did George Lucas ever have any idea for Episodes VII to IX, or did the Star Wars novels stomp all over possible thoughts he may have had for the Star Wars universe past the destruction of the Empire?

A: At one point early on, George Lucas talked of possibly needing nine movies to tell his tale of the Skywalker family. But as he actually worked through the story line, he realized long ago that the story he wanted to tell could naturally be told in six two-hour films. The nine-episode mantra, however, refuses to die...and we realize, never will. But George says that the story he has to tell will be complete in the six films, which can then be viewed as one epic saga. He says that he honestly has no story to tell now beyond the destruction of the second Death Star.

LucasBooks has always checked with the boss to make sure that none of its projects interferes in any way with anything that he is planning. And while plans can change, rest assured that the wonderful expanded fictional universe enjoyed by so many fans has in no way stomped or trampled on any of George Lucas's prerogatives or options.

I'll be taking concessions in the form of sexual favors or cash, purists.

It's only stompped all over the Original Trilogy. Remember, there is no Light or Darkside.

Where's this from?
"The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."

I think you should post this at SB.com on Wayne Poe's thread.

Say what?!

So in other words they don't realize a large portion of the EU contradicts the prequels (and even the special editions)?

That's before extensive fan-based retconning and some of the "new" EU materials of course...

That or Lucas just didn't tell them anything before TPM came out!

* Of course some might add that there are contradictions between the OT and the prequels, but most have left it to the prequel era EU stuff to straighten that out.

Which seems to have been ignored by the SB community at large, given there are no posts in that thread concuring with or opposing the ideas in it.

Notice how they tacitly answer the first part of the question though (he DID concieve of more than six movies at one time, but changed his mind).

Almost 70 people have read it, though.

I've resurrected the thread since I think it deserved more discussion than it got, though, so someone else should try to keep it at the top of the charts.

It isn't creative or amusing parody. Just purist whining on their EU cryfest of the month with a new spin.

Since this is from SW.com you can't take it as true (as people here have told me) or else the Executor would be 12km long and the ISD would be Imperial Class! Or MAYBE that is true and SW.Com knows more than the pot heads here  oh well. I'll go with the flow and say the quote is crap cause its from SW.com
History? I love history! First, something happens, then, something else happens! It's so sequential!! Thank you first guy, for writing things down!

Just out of curiosity, what the fuck are you talking about? Its a bit different thing if a length of a ship is displayed wrong in the website which is afterall been done by web designers. than a direct quote from someone who knows what the fuck he is talking about. The validity of Sansweets statement has absolutely nothing to do with the validity of the goddamn ship database info of SW.com. Get your shit straight.

It was amusing for like the first chapter. Though I don't really agree with the 'Zahn rules' sentiment- after all, he *did* give us ysalmiri.

Not really the point- after all, I'm entitled to criticize the shit out of the Dungeons and Dragons movie, and I couldn't do better. Bad is bad, regardless of whether the person saying so could do better personally.

The fallacy of composition is not a valid form of argumentation. Merely because individual data on starwars.com (specifically, in the Databank) are inaccurate does not indicate in any way whatever that Mr Sansweet's answer ought be taken at anything other than face value, especially considering that Mr Sansweet has little to nothing to do with the Databank.
