I looked forward to TPM a lot, and it was garbage. Stil, I love the OT. Then AOTC came out, and it was a lot better. If GL's trend of movie directing goes up, EpIII might not be so bad. Still, you only get three movies. I felt robbed after TPM; sure the others will be better, but that's one whole film (1/3 of the PT!) that you don't get back.

Most of the EU is garbage too. I like Zahn's stuff, I like Alston's stuff (even if some of his novels have bad match ups--Iron Fist, anyone?), and some of the NJO is good also. But most is even worth your time, and there are lot of better sci-fi novels you can read to get your fill.

But my favorite SW thing will always be talking about the technical aspects of it. Yes, fear my nerdiness! In doing so, however, you can create for yourself a virtually limitless plethora of topics about any and all SW tech. Fun stuff.

In short, my interest in SW has waned somewhat, more in some areas than others, but as long as there is dumb stuff in the franchise for me to cross-section and compare on the Net, well, I'll be half-way satisfied.

The first loss of interest came with RoTJ. As I mentioned in another thread, I made fun of it in the theater.

TPM really had me going until they landed on Naboo. Then, OH NO!

But that's prequelitis. All of them suck, Enterprise, Dune, and SW all fail. Although AoTC made up for TPM somewhat, and I won't give up hope for Ep. III.

I don't find my interest in SW waning. In fact, only recently have I gotten eccess to the EU by finding "Vector Prime" on the bookshelves on the local library. But I should probably start with the Thrawn Trilogy instead.

I've lost my interest in SW since PM.

The EU is mostly filled with shit.

The only thing I watch is the OT. There're only a few, real good books out there.

Yes. I stopped reading the EU after vomiting over the first NJO book I read.

SW EU still has the capacity to be very good. A new empire like organisation destroying the new republic could be v. good.

Due to some of the NJO books being released in hardcover LONG before they come out in paperback, I've been buying other books instead. And from that, I begun to read more and more of non-SW stuff (sometimes sci-fi, sometimes not). Of course, that's not to mention my growing obession with anime (quick point: down with mecha! eat 20cm powergun death!)... Add university to the mix...

... So yeah, my interest with SW has been declining a bit over the last few years... *shrug*

My interest in SW has seriously decreased since I saw the PT films. I still love the OT but I loath the new films.

While I know full well they couldn't live up to any expectations they just seem wrong.

Instead, I immerse myself in 40k lore and other stuff.

Funnily enough my love for TOS Star Trek and TNG has flared up...probably something to do with watching TUC about 12 times over a two week period.

Well, nice thing about this site, it's got loads of interesting stuff besides Wars vs Trek :D I have hardly even read anything in the EU, and I'm posting merrily here :D

My interest is waning. It should pick up again once EpIII comes out.

Quite frankly, the lastest EU sucks shit. Oh sure we got a few classics, but then we get utter crap like Remnant and Refugee, pretty much everything before Star by Star sucked, and don't even mention Dark Journey...

Oh! Pick me! Pick me!

Like I've said before, Trek is not the only franchise that is in serious need of a break. Honestly, I am glad that this will be the last of the Star Wars movies. If they were to have some post ROTJ movies...they would, well, suck...Period.

I think Thrawn Trilogy would be a good set of movies... but that's off-topic, its been discussed in another thread.

Amen to that. The EU is one crap-fest after another. The last good book was Star By Star and that still had problems. And with the writing quality falling and the sheer numbers increasing I stopped caring.

Once they moved from ocassional story to mass produced I really stopped caring. Just not worth it, money or timewise, not with better franchises like Honor Harrington or Warhammer 40K out there.

Hmmm, Most of the EU stuff I have seen is garbage.

As to the Movies. The OT in its day, possibly excepting ROTJ, was ground breaking stuff it was well done and interesting. The prequels are just feeding of the glory of the OT, and are really just one set of movies out of a lot of others that are as good or, in the case of TPM, a lot better.

But ultimatly there is nothing really to hold your attention for 20 years. When they are all on DVD/Video... Yeah its Star Wars, a good way to spend a couple of hours when there is nothing better to watch.
Faded glory.

The SWU and its external components rely too much on a couple of planets and systems or are too miminalist.

The grandeur and scale of SW,something that always interested me just isn't there anymore.

After the last NJO book I have no intention of so much as glancing at another EU book, I just want to finish what I've started and then I'm going to forget the whole wretched thing. The entire thing just fails on every possible level as far as I'm concerned, but I've started the series and I want to read the ending.

I still enjoy the films though. Right now I'm a tad burned out on AOTC, but watching a film 20 times in 6 months does that to me.
