Things to do in Toronto?

Post by RedImperator »

I'm going there at the end of the month. Any of this board's many Torontonians have any suggestions for me?

There's nothing wrong with Toronto; knocking Toronto is just a reflex. It could be caused by jealousy of that big pointy thing they have.

When I was last in Toronto, I went to the theatre, saw a ball game in the SkyDome, and went to some amusement park. It was tres fun. :D

For real: There is supposed to be some real cheap deals for tourists. For example there's a multi-day pass for the Molson Indy + Wrestling + Baseball combo for like 50 bucks, I just don't know when that is. The Torontonians could probably fill you in more.

Unless your going to be there on July 11,12, and 13 then forget it. The deal is $69 Can and it gets you into the Indy (you'll probably have crappy seats but you'll get tanked so who cares), the jays game and the WWE event. Good value.

Imp, there are pleanty of bars and events to shake a stick at. Go to the ROM, CN tower and all that stuff.

Well, there's the obvious ones: go eat at the CN tower sky-high restaurant to see the night-time cityscape from altitude (a very cool view), catch some kind of event at the Skydome, see a play downtown such as the "Lion King" musical adaptation or , go eat a meal at the Medieval Times restaurant/renaissance fair, and then look at your depleted wallet in shock :D

You can also go to www.toronto.com and see if there are any upcoming events which might mesh with your schedule or stroll through Chinatown for some dim sum.

Alternatively, you can go to the intersection of Jane and Finch with your wallet in plain view and get beaten and robbed :)

There is a big chunk of Scarborough (that's the east end of the city) which is mostly Asian. You'd probably want to do some Web research before trying to look for things around there, though. It's not exactly a sidewalk-shopping kind of area.

I like Dalton's idea. :D Seriously, I do plan on catching a game at the Skydome. I'll have to make sure the Blue Jays are playing at home that week. I'll leave my Flyers jersey at home. And I'll do the CN Tower thing. And, well, I'll probably end up drinking a lot. Still checking out what else there is to do.

As for getting beaten and robbed, I could do that in any one of many convenient locations in the city of Camden, New Jersey, without having to drive seven hours. So I thikn I'll skip that. :P

You could paint some graffitti, litter, loiter, steal, and other such maliscious criminal activities. It's about time Toronto got some American Yankees fucking up their town, right? :D

There is a few anime stores on Spadina between Queen str. west and Dundas str. west. They use to sell alot of copied games there too...

Catch a symphony concert over at Roy Thomson Hall if you can, it's quite a unique concert hall and the redone acoustics are wonderful. There's a whole bunch of bars/clubs downtown where you can catch live music being performed by soon to be famous bands, jazz, rock, folk, everything.

And then you can go by Hooker Harvey's and pick up some night time "entertainment". :D

Say, do you want it to be a threesome with your wife? Or a foursome with your wife and sister-in-law? I'm up for either. :P

I could do more damage to their minds by giving them this board's URL.

Visit our Science Centre. They often have special displays and exhibits and it's great fun playing with all the stuff they have there. They also have an OmniMax theatre (a planetarium style IMAX theatre) there that's good enough to give a person motion sickness with the right movie playing.
