Take it to heart? Your saying that I must convert or I go to hell regardless of how I lived my life. Anyone who says being a Christian at heart is more important then actions in life is full of shit. How you live your life is the single most important thing and any religion claiming otherwise is full of it.

I also meant by taking it to heart that you repent and tyr to not be bad. Repentance is one of the cornerstones of Christianity. I repeant and I think everyone shoould. That also means that you should at least try hard not to sin. I am being vaegue in order not to offend anyone.

Why should I repent for being bad when I have yet to be bad? Do you know anything about me? Your making conclussions with no evidence.

Yeah, I think it originates from the American colonists... After a few false alarms with the Apocalpyse, they decided to use this, so there's no set time for this to happen, which is rather convenient for them...

The word 'sin' comes from the Greek word 'Hamartano', meaning literally, 'to miss the mark,' and is related to 'merizo,' meaning 'differ or divide.'

Basically the Christian term 'sin,' really means to miss the mark by Gods standards. We all miss the mark, but to repent and turn our direction in life to Him, we are forgiven.

It would be a bad thing, as it would mean that JHVH exists and that the supreme power in the universe is a genocidal lunatic.

But if the Rapture actually occurs, this raises the question: Is it true that the UN and/or the Vatican has any connection to the Antichrist who apparently will rule the world during the supposed Tribulation?? :P

I meant in general, not refering to a specific act or person. From your post, you seem like a nice person Alyeska. If your already on a good path, fine. than all that would be needed was a leap of faith to boot and, for all intents and purposes, you would be a true Christian.

And there you go again. Your saying I have to make a leap of faith, I have to BELIEVE. Does that mean I go to hell merely for not believing? Why not judge people by their actions eh?

One key religious term there: repentance. You have to be truly sorry for your sins to be forgiven. Then you have to a least ry not to do them again.

God can't see the future. If God is foolish enough to reveal himself, I'm sure we can join the forces of darkness and defeat him. We just need iron chariots.

You wouldn't have a chance in hell, literally. All he would have to do is through an ocean at you or yank out the Ark of the Covenant. Death Raiders of the Lost Ark style.

I would say we'd be a lot more advanced than that by then :P Star Destroyers anyone? :P Gridfire rifles

I was brought up as a Christian... then my faith became weaker and weaker... this site was the last straw :P It'd be a miracle that would convert me back now, all right :)

You're digging yourself a deeper and deeper hole

Alyeska: I never sinned!
You: That's great, now you just need a leap of faith and you'd be a true Christian
Alyeska: So what if I'm not a true Christian? I never sinned! Why should I go to hell just because I don't believe in Christ?
You: You will go to heaven if you repent for your sins

Yes, but I'd have an Iron Chariot, the bane of Judah.

I really have no choice since I have already blasphemed God by ridiculing the notion of his existence, which according to the bible is an unforgivable sin. My only option would be to ally with the Forces of Darkness(tm) against one who would harm me.

And we continue to go in circles. Assume I have lived a fair life and thus have not commited any sins greater then stealing a candy bar when I was 8.

First you say I have to convert. When I point out how that is total bullshit you say I have to repent. When I point out that I could very well have lived the perfect life you again say I have to convert. I point the absurdity and you switch back to repentance...

I am getting tired of running in circles and your avoiding my questions.

Oh yes, it is terribly evil not to believe in something that has no proof that it even exists. Oh yes, very evil.

I am only saying I believe that, not that it is necessaryly true. And yes, I will admit that there is no actual physical evidence of God, hense the whole faith thing. I can't prove it so the arguement is rather retorical. I just believe in God and Jesus, so don't hold that against me.

That was my first thought. Here's how my reaction would go.

1) "So you mean to tell me that 144,000 fundies suddenly vanished this morning, causing thousands of traffic accidents and other disruptions to society . . . what a bunch of assholes!"

2) "Say, if they vanished like that, that would mean the God of the Bible really does exist . . . which would mean that the universe is ruled by a psychopathic maniac!"

3) "Awww hell." *Puts on AC/DC, starts singing along." 'I'm on the hiiighway to Hell!"

4) "Waitaminute, God couldn't defeat anybody who drove an iron chariot."

5) "We've come a long way since iron chariots. And we have a unifying world tongue. Wasn't God afraid of that?"

6) "Come to think of it, He seemed pretty ignorant in general!"

7) "Heeey, I bet that if enough of us got together and raided a military armory, we could storm the gates of Heaven and kill that murderous psychopath!"

8) Chaaaaarge!!!!!!!

Not necessarily. The tenants of John 3:16 should still apply even after the rapture. Unfortunately, the Scriptures seem to point to those becoming Christians after the rapture as a very dangerous decision, ending in beheading in most cases...

I would just like to point out that not all Christians believe in this Rapture business, indeed the majority probably do not. As has been stated, it is a very new idea, and is considered by most orthodox churches to be a heresy. The mainline Protestant churches also tend to repudiate the doctrine. It is limited primarily to American evangelicals, who do not make a majority of Christians even here in the U.S. They just happen to be the loudest.
