Two Towers Public Service Announcement

Post by Tsyroc »

As most of you are probably aware The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers will be available on DVD near the end of August. Since one of the special features listed on Amazon's description of the DVD is a sneak peak at the special extended version of the Two Towers I was hoping that we could spread the word (or not).

I thought that in the case of FotR that it was pretty clear ahead of time that there was going to be an extended edition of the movie released on DVD later in the year. Still, I've encountered several people who bitched about having bought the theatrical version because they didn't know that another version was coming out later. Personally, I thought it was very well known that an extended version was coming out later, and I told a few of the whiners the same thing.

So, as a public service to limit the amount of whining could we all just make a point of telling people that there will be a extended version available later.

Or, we could help pump up sales of the theatrical version by specifically lying to people and telling them that there won't be an extended version. Maybe something like, "oh yeah, they aren't going to do that two editions thing again. Lots of people felt they got suckered into buying the first one when they would have rather waited for the longer version".

By the way, do you think that the super special extended version of the Two Towers will come with bookends of Orthanc & Baradur? It would go well with the Argonath bookends of the FotR don't you think? :)
By the pricking of my thumb,
Something wicked this way comes.
Open, locks,
Whoever knocks.

Yes!

I'm not getting burned again. I bought the Fellowship of the Ring right away just like everyone else did, only to discover that a better version was being released in November. The extended version is the definitive version, and I haven't touched the original since getting that one.

You know, it was meant that both versions would be rather different, different extras, and even the video quality is different. The extras are both different and it was planned for people to buy both. Not because they're getting screwed, but for all the extra stuff.

Yeah. Just wait until the Batman musical.

You can see part of it in Batman Beyond.

I was able to borrow somebody's pirated Acadamy Award version of TTT for a couple of days ( They got it out of China ) That should sustain me for 2 more months. The only annoying thing about it was that the text " For your courtesy" or some shit like that flashed across the screen once in a while.
