I understand the emotional part...but don't sweat it...I had to do it in between moves when opne of my roomates pretty much up and left within a month.
I mean if you can keep the place all the better.
It just a transitional thing anyways.
Would you be ashamed of having to move home?

Re: Would you be ashamed of having to move home?
I've discovered over years of retrospect, one of the reasons I moved out and got married to The Gorean Asshole was because of the tension between my mother and my 20yr old know-it-all self. I stayed with the Asshole because I was too proud/afraid/stubborn to move back in with them, causing myself a lot of pain, heartache, and mental distress.TrailerParkJawa wrote:Im planning on renting my condo out next month and moving back in with my dad. I will have to lease it for a year, because its too hard to find someone that wants month to month. The rental market is real soft now.
I have to do this, in order to not lose the the place. Intellectually, I think Im making a smart move. Emotionally, I feel like a fricking loser. Im 32, I should have a single family home, kids, and a wife by now. Yet Im having trouble hanging on to a little condo.
Just curious how you all would feel?
Once I did leave him, I stayed with friends inside of returning home, because I had a job down here and Mom lived 50miles away. I managed to rent a huge 4bedroom apt with the new Idjit Boyfriend and thought I was doing good. Three years later, that one dumped me for a roommate we brought in to help on rent, and once again I was househunting, refusing to go home.
Now, 12 yrs after I left, my mom and I are getting along great... as long as we're not in the same house for more than 4 days. While she has room for me to move in if it came to it, I wouldn't. All my friends and my job are here, in the Valley not the Mountain.

Me: Nope, that's why I have you around to tell me.
Nitram: You -are- beautiful. Anyone tries to tell you otherwise kill them.

I feel for you buddy. As for me, I can't imagine circumstances that would cause me to move in with my parents, as I've been out since '88, without any thought of going back. Of course, I'm in the Army, so housing isn't an issue and job security is pretty stable. Not to sound like a recruiter or anything, but are you eligible for military service?TrailerParkJawa wrote:Im planning on renting my condo out next month and moving back in with my dad. My parents gave me our previous house.. And now they bought one for my younger brother..
It makes me feel sort of inadequate, never having had to worry about renting houses and bank loans..
In your situation, it makes perfect sense. It is more economic that way, and if the house is big enough for everybody then it would be a waste renting one nearby. Similarly, people who already live in the city where they go to college don't leave their parents house.

No, Im not eligible for military service. I got D/Q'd at the Oakland MEPS station during the first gulf war. I guess technically I could maybe get a waiver, but I do have pretty bad allergies. Besides, I dont think Id make a good officer. I think I would have been a pretty good enlisted kid. Actually, I wish I was a Reservist right now, I could volunteer for a year of duty, get a housing allowance, and keep the condo.jegs2 wrote: I feel for you buddy. Thanks for asking though. My mortgage with taxes and HOA is about $2000/month. The rental market is so soft, I cant rent it for more than 1000 or so. Im thinking of putting out there for 800 so it moves quickly. I should be able to find lots of little contracts to make up the difference. Once I move out I can cancel the phone, cable, dsl, etc.

My condo? Or my dads? My place is really nice inside. Vaulted ceilings, a den, a big master bedroom, gas range, balcony over looking some trees and grass.Hethrir wrote:Sounds like a kick ass place, enjoy it while you are there. Your dad will enjoy the time you spend with him.
It's not quite a comparison, but I'm 22, and have moved back home. Twice.
Im next to busy railroad tracks so that really sucks, but its all I could afford.
If I could do it all over again, I might have waited to find something quieter but I cant complain too much. Im smack in the middle of Fremont so everything is a 10-15 min drive or walk.
