Anyone gonna pay for starwars.com?

Post by Vympel »

If you go to starwars.com you'll see that you can pay to get extra content- including something about the identity of a mysterious Alliance ship being finally solved ... check it out. I think it's called Hyperspace.

Maybe Dr Saxton can enlighten us. The quote is:

"Mystery ship solved: For years, fans have puzzled over a mysterious Alliance ship"

Ugh, you mean we'll have to pay to find out what the "Y-Head Corvette" really is?

Meh, how naughty of them... :|

TF.net Lit-ers will spoil for discussing continuity's sake. I'll be sure to let you guys know ASAP.

I won't pay for it unless the exclusive content includes an explanation of how the heck the Kaminoans' anatomy works without any musculature.

Right now its still free but there is not much worth paying for so I won’t be staying when the free period ends. All you get for this ship is a picture from the top, bottom, and side with the caption.

“For years, fans have puzzled over the make and model of a mysterious Alliance ship glimpsed in the background of the Return of the Jedi space battle. Here's a close-up look at this kit-bashed background model, known simply as the "ROJ BG Ship."

One thing I would not reccommend would be for one person to purchase a subscription and then share the user details and password / copy webpages for others. While that would allow rapid exhange and analysis of information totally consistent with our mandate, it would be illegal. I wonder if they use IP tracking.

Would it be possible to save the pictures on one's hard drive?

Even if you can't right click, just do a print screen, paste it into MS paint, and save that.

Heh... that's what the paypal button is for. Though I'm fairly sure the contract will have something in that making it illegal.

Couldn't you claim fair use? If it is going to be used for discussion. Doesn't have to be posted straightto the board, but could be done on, say, Wong's site. And he could analyze it, and we'd just discuss it, and could claim fair use?

I dunno, not that up on copyright law. :?

What the fuck, we have to pay to see the ship? What kind of bullshit is this? I payed for the origional trilogy on VHS. I payed to see the SE film in the theatre. I even payed again for the SE trilogy on VHS. Now I have to pay a fourth time just to see maybe three clear shots of a kitbash that I've already paid to see three times before. Fuck that, I ain't paying again. I'll wait for the pirated version to find it's way onto the net or the various peer to peer programs.

actually the first two days are a free "demo", but then after that you have to pay. (I think you need to use a credit card number, too.)

I don't want Ep. III to be spoiled for me. Paying for Ep. III news will get me, guess what, Ep. III news. That is something I don't want.

Also, http://galactic-voyage.com/Galactic%20News.htm has news about Ep. III. Not everything, but better than nothing.

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

I got the free trial, saved the picture, and cancelled my membership. If anybody wants the picture, pm me and I'll email it to you. It's kinda neat, but nothing special.

I'd like to see that picture.

Please and thank you!

As for paying for Hyperspace? Hell no! All that "special" footage and crap will end up in Star Wars Insider anyway. (which I subscribe to)
