It's a pity the thread was locked...

If he'd left it at "they revere the wolf but wear it's skin, what a paradox" he might've had a point.

When I thought they could not get any stupider, they start bitching about stuff where no animals were actually harmed. At least it was only one person, and PETA itself hasn't started a public campaign against virtual fur.

I'd like to take this moment to remind people of the few good things that Peta has done in it's quest to turn people into vegans and to stop wearing furn.

No Meat

No Fur 1

No Fur 2

As annoying as the stupider elements of PETA are it's stuff like this that makes me hope they keep on trying.
:? Actually I think they should try harder. :D

Since I don't play WH40k (and therefore cannot refuse to play a game with them), I would instead spit on the ground in front of them, and tell them that they should go out and try to join a pack of wolves themselves. (Then volunteer to have them heli-dropped into the Alaskan wilderness near the territory of said pack.)

BTW, the Space Wolves are supposed to barbarians. And therefore, they do.... uhm, barbaric things like wearing wolf pelts. Because.... uhm, they're like Frankenstein and stuff. Frankenstein does stuff like that.

Now, show me the ones where it's a guy :)

Oh... when the circle came to town last month, a local(?) PETA member placed herself outside the downtown mall, demonstrating inside a cage wearing nothing but tiger-stripe body paint.

Ah PETA, gotta love 'em, persistant (if stupid) bastards. Got a blurb about 'em on my site now: http://sothis5.com/Perils_of_Peta.html

For those unfamilar with the above organisation, PETA stands for 'People for Ethical Treatment of Animals'. It was founded in 1980, operating under the following principles: 'animals are not ours to eat, wear, experiment on, or use for entertainment. PETA educates policymakers and the public about animal abuse and promotes an understanding of the right of all animals to be treated with respect.'

Perhaps on the point of wearing, I can understand (well, I can understand the idea of not killing for an animals fur- we can make clothes out of so many different things, or we can shave a sheep!), but human beings are historically omnivorous, meaning we eat both meat and vegatables. We've been eating meat since caveman times.

As for entertainment... well... whipping a bear or lion into performing tricks isn't something I approve of, and nor would I approve beating or harming an animal into doing something. Animals can be trained with the use of food, affection and love; there's no need to be brutal.

A big problem that I have with PETA is that they will often equate animal suffering as being an equal or more important problem than that of human suffering, and the sad thing is, PETA's view often wins out. I can only imagine how many millions of dollars PETA brings in via it's fund-raising events- millions that could be spent on childrens charities, or on aid campaigns for Africa, or for helping people in countries like Iraq and Afghanistan. Not long ago PETA published a website that compared the appalling treatment of the Jews during the Holocaust to that of battery chickens. Masskilling.com would have us believe that chickens are equal to humans. When have you seen a chicken build a skyscraper, or develop a new form of power, or unlock the secrets of bio-chemistry? Ok, so needless cruelty is just that, needless, but if given a choice about who to save, the Jews or the chickens, I'd choose the Jews. I wouldn't even begin to compare human suffering on such a scale as the Holocaust to that of chickens!!!

Another problem I have with PETA is their drive to stop people eating meat. There is a lot of stuff on their website about how meat-eating and drinking milk can lead to various health problems, and how vegatarians live longer lives (though no links to the studies that revealed that information are present on their site). Even if we accept PETA at their word, at the end of the day, we are the dominant species on the planet, and if we choose to eat meat- well, it is not PETA's right to tell us we can't. Their points out that animals have no say in whether or not we eat them- the antelope has no say as to whether or not the lion eats it, yet there is no campaign underway for equal rights on the African savannah. The only difference (in respect of catching our food) between the human and the lion is how we catch and process our food.

If people choose to become vegatarian, then that's fine with me. I won't hold it against them, though I do suggest that would-be vegatarian mums take a look at this: An article concerning vitamin deficiencies and lack of child development. There is also secondary information on the matter here.

If you wish to eat meat and be healthy, then eat vegatables to supplement your meat intake. If you so wish, there are vitamin pills available too, and of course, exercise regularly. Go to the gym, go swimming, go on long meandering walks in the countryside. It doesn't matter if you eat solely vegatarian diets or an omnivorous diet, if you sit on your arse all day, you'll develop problems. And please, don't be like Mr Barber!!!

Don't forget that this "argument" for vegetarism is quite hypocritical considering that Hitler was a vegetarian....

It was more of a forced thing, due to medical problems. He ate meat in his younger years, but couldn't handle it due to ulcers or something later on.

Yeah, and he was wondering how to make his dog (Blondi) become a vegetarian as well...and when someone ate dinner with him, he threw disgusting comments about meat-eating to kill everyone's apetite...

Maybe it originated because of medical problems, but he sure as hell became fanatical about vegetarianism eventually...

They called that "Holocaust on Your Plate", right?

What about "Holocaust in Your Brain"? I'm sure hearing their arguments killed off some of my brain cells.

If they could stand his constant dinner table tirades (he could talk about total CRAP for hours on end).

Anybody heard Hitler's theory about dogs and humans living in airless space, before Earth got an atmosphere?
