I'm a big fan of both. Although Simpsons, because I've seen it more often (early shows are endlessely repeated on BBC2), is imminantly more quotable out of context, Family Guy tends to be more visual.
Eg - Family Guy - bit that made me crack up first time I saw it - Peter climbs through washing machine, sees fawn wearing sock
~ Hello, my name is mr tumnus the fawn/faun.
~ Hey, gimme back my sock ya goat bastard...
Eg - Simpsons - many more moments, but you can generally quote them without needing much of an explanation... hence the fact that the moment one of my mates says a simpsons line we all like, then with exact timing that borders on the terrifying, we can all join in.
~ I'll get you, Beer Baron.
~ No you won't
~ Yes. I will.
~ Won't.
And one of the best ever -
~ Oh, it's beautiful, oh lets put Barts beautiful picture on the fridge...
~ Homer, would you please look at the picture?
~ Oh, alrigh- Ahhhhhh, Burn it, send it to hell!

That Simpsons/Flintstones thing was a great opening for an episode.

One of my faves:
"I'd like to return your quote unquote Ultimate Belt."
"Do you have a receipt, quote unquote sir?"
"No I do not, I won it as a door prize at a Star Trek convention, however I find their choice of prize extremely illogical, as the average Trekker has no need for a medium size belt."
"Whoa, a fat sarcastic Star Trek fan, you must be a devil with the ladies."
"I- <sigh> I will now return to my store, where I dispense the insults rather than absorb them."

"Oh no, oh yeah, tell me how can it be so fair
That we dying younger hiding from the police man over there
Just for breathing in the air they wanna leave me in the chair
Electric shocking body rocking beat streeting me to death"
- A.B. Original, Report to the Mist
"I think it’s the duty of the comedian to find out where the line is drawn and cross it deliberately."

I love the simpson but i don't hate family guy... i just don't find it funny. It seems to me that they want the father to be so much like homer it is not even funnyaphexmonster wrote:neoolong wrote:What's that got to do with anything?
