Nevada to Legalize Pot???

Post by Tsyroc »

It looks like Nevad is considering legalizing marijuana beyond just the
"medical" stage that some states have.

Right now it doesn't look like it would help too much since the Federal Government is still willing to come down on peopel like a ton of bricks for
marijuana use but having a whole state where posession is legal might make
it tough on the hardliners.

I thought it was funny that in the article one of the law enforcement people
in Nevada didn't want the state to become a place where people go for
drug tours. :?: :?: :?: I guess he doesn't mind the gambling and the sex tourism but he doesn't want any marijuana tourists. :?
By the pricking of my thumb,
Something wicked this way comes.
Open, locks,
Whoever knocks.

The state seems to have a good grasp over the gaming and prostitution industries. I don't see why they couldn't handle legal pot.
The most basic assumption about the world is that it does not contradict itself.

Its fun to see all the Sipply Slop Fallcys that pop up when people talk about legalised Drugs such as this one
"What message are we sending our youth if this initiative passes? That it's OK to take drugs?" said school counselor Teresa Jempsa. "If marijuana becomes legal, then what drug is next?"
Despite the fact we already tell Kids that Beer is cool and good(You know you have!) Yet while we do see people getting drunk and crashing cars no one complains they just call it tragic

And some-how I think 15 year olds who steal a few joints from Daddys Pot Cabnit will be in any state to remeber where the keys are let alone make it out the door and start the car :P

Follow up
This guy however has a very good line
"As of right now," he said, "the most dangerous effect of marijuana possession and use is jail."

So true 8)

This remind me of a story from the early '90s when Madonna was banned from performing in Bangkok because her show was deemed to be in bad taste. One quote on the issue "Now you've got to be doing something pretty bad when Bangkok draws the line." - "I know I take all my moral cues from Thailand."

When they legalize it, they should restrict sales to a small shack in the middle of nowhere, accesible only by a dirt road. Now, Nevada will have the "highest point in the Unites States".

It will be interesting to see what happens between the federal government and state governments as more states pass such laws.

Of course federal law trumps state law, but someday I think marjiuana will be legal.

Im for letting Nevada do it. There law is a different than the CA laws. Here you can smoke it for medicinal purposes. Frankly, I dont care why people smoke it as long as it is at home.

On and interesting side note, Ive noticed in www.craigslist.org that people refer to marijuana as 420. Ive never heard anyone call it that, but Im not exactly a user either.

hopefully. if they make it legal in the states it wont take long untill its fully legal over here. even though they handle it quite well here. it´s illegal, but if you´re cought in possession under 5 g it´s confiscated and you get a letter that you´re charged with possession... and 4 weeks later you get another letter saying that the charge has been droped because there´s no public interest.

It's interesting (not in the least because I plan to make Nevada my home soon,) but I doubt anything will come of it. The DEA will be all over them like Barclay on holodeck porn.

Personally, I doubt you'll have any more people smoking weed than do now that it's illegal, that's just my opinion though. It's certainly better than alcohol as a vice: potheads tend to sit and vegitate, drunks on the other hand are an unpredictable bunch.

it´s probably not going to be more or at least not a lot, but it´ll be a lot less annoying to carry the stuff around. you wont have to hide it in dumb places like in your shoes anymore where all the good stuff gets trampled.
