Macross is better cause its not kiddiefied and doesn't go off on two unrelated shows.

Edit: Bascially the Transfundies will not watch or buy anything unless it looks exactly like the original show with the charaters drawn the same way as they were twenty years ago. I'm serious, they moaned about how Starscream's guns were moved to his forearms in one poster. They also moaned about Optimus Prime's tires being on his hips and that his eyes were yellow. Also how Jazz's doors were exposed in robot mode.Which makes it pretty obvious to me that they've never seen the toys of the last two since that's how they look! Also they bich and bitch about how the new comic doesn't follow the cartoon "continuity" (and I use that term very loosely) to the friggen letter.

Which is why I really have to learn to not go for the skull in my beatings. Many of my opponents suffer such intense cranial disfunction that they forget what was done to them. Which really ruins the effect of unleashing the Fool-Slaying upon them.

Compared to the other cartoons of it's age, it was excellently written. Keep in mind that cartoon writing has improved since the mid-80s.

Yes its such good writing. One of the writers (forget his anme but he did Autobot Run and Autobot Spike plus a few others. He also did the Dinotbot episodes) admits to doing many of them in one whole afternoon where its run off to the story board artists with very little editing and then shipped to Toei animation in Japan or maybe to Korea. Wow.
