I didn't think you'd consider provoking a well-armed nuclear nation into deploying that arsenal as being a reasonable solution. This whole conflict can be need in a mater of minutes, and many people hear seem eager to remove the only thing that gives Israel reason for restraint.

You mean 1947 when every boarding nation launched an invasion against a nation with no military about 18 hours after it came into existence?

Generally defensive actions do not result in having more territory...

The shaky 1981 cease-fire between Israel and the Palestine Liberation Organization in Lebanon fell completely to pieces 20 years ago this month after an assassination attempt on Israeli Ambassador to England Shlomo Argow and the shelling of the Western Galilee from Lebanon soon afterward.

The government responded first with air and missile attacks and then with a full- scale invasion of southern Lebanon. So was born "Operation Peace For Galilee"

Do you think I was serious?

Hell no.

I would withdraw unconditional support fromIsreal if I had my way, but I would give that support to either side.

They may have wanted enough land to give some depth to any defense: it's the same reason they keep the Golan Heights.

Well, the point is that Israel has a signifigantly better landscape than, say, Saudi Arabia.

Actually much of Israel is no longer a wasteland, because the Israelis built a modern economy and developed it. Currently they have a huge tree planting campaign that’s converting vast areas of desert.

Yes, but it's the size of New Jersey, and lacks the natural resources of other Middle Eastern areas. It's like two kids fighting over who gets to eat the last bread crumb.

As for the moratorium, I say thrreads relating to the Middle East conflict are fine until they turn into the long-winded flamefests we've seen in the threads that inspired the moratorium.

The moratorium was only to last until there was a significant change in events that could warrant additional discussion. This plan counts as such.

Hmmm....I wonder if Israel would still be willing to entertain the idea of creating the homeland in Uganda as they once did?

I would hazard a guess...No.
And here in lies the problem - is the Hamas member the preaching cleric? The man who listens? Is it the man who takes up arms to defend his family from the perceived threat? Is it his family for keeping him in their home? Is it the man who once met a Hamas leader? Is it anyone who has ever said "you know, Hamas have done some good things"?

Until they specify who they're going after this whole thing stinks. And stinks badly.

You got it wrong.

Israel is no longer a wasteland because they pumped the aquifer dry, screwing the whole place over completely.

I've been fond of this idea, not that would ever happen, but if these terrorist groups such as Hamas and the Al Aqsa brigades see themselves as "armies of Allah", or of the Palestinians, why not let them fight an army? Forget all the civs and go for the IDF? :D

Why didn't the UN place them between like canada and the USA.? If they were placed between those 2 countries we wouldn't have all this problem.

And if I'm mistaking forgive my ignorance.

And yet the whole area on both sides still gets all of its water from underground sources and people are not dropping dead of thirst. Funny.
