Star War Space Battle (Ep III)
You must create a space battle for the movie. Discuss your idea.
The one supposedly at the begining of the film or the one that I am sure is at the end of the film?
[set up]
The begining fight scene and the political manuverings durring the bulk of the movie, set up a battle at the end. Palpatine, through his minion Dooku sets the Sepretist movment up for a fall. The Sepertist Movment is realing from a defeat at the begaining of the movie and makes a despreate attack on the planet ? (Alderaan?) Palpatine sends in the Jedi and the Grand Army of the Republic to deal with the sepertists once and for all.........
A massive formation of Trade Federation Battleships with escorting vessels of all types jump out of hyperspace above the target planet. They exchange fire with stationary weapons emplacements of the system and recieve limited damage by denfending fighter groups.
The Sepertists overwelm the defenders, and proceed to disgorge an assualt force to the surface, where a lossing battle is shown. A force of Jedi lead by Mace Windu are on hand with the defenders and a desperate counter attack is shown that comes close to colapsing the enemy lines, but in the end, fails.
With a flash, a large fleet of Acclamators and their escorting Victories enter the system and vector in on the Sepertists. Areosprites, Naboo N1's, and Z95 Headhunter boil out of the hangers of the Republic ships as the enemy formation turns to face the coming vessels.
The two opposing formations of fighters clash then break up into one on one fights while they weave in and out of their larger brothers, all the while flashes of blaster fire streak across the battlefield.
The two fleets meet and start to duke it out. The commander of the Republic fleet, Comadore Tarkin, orders his ships to commence fire from maximun range and continues to close in on the Trade Fed ships. While the Sepertists have more ships than the Republic, the Sepertist have converted war ships while the Republic has dedicated warships. The Sepertists try to out flank the Victories and pound on the troop transports while Tarkin punches a hole through the battle line so that the belegured defenders on the planet can recieve reinforcements.
As the two fleets meet, a lone transport drops out of hyperspace and vectors in on the Command ship of the Republic forces. Once docked, Lord Dooku fresh from his battle with Obi Wan and goating Anakin into thinking that Obi has killed both Padme and Anakin's unborn son, proceeds to the bridge and give Comadore Tarkin orders from the Supreme Chancilor. These orders revel that Dooku is now an official member of the Chancilors cabnet and is in overall charge of the Republic forces. Tarkin, already deep into the Chancilors conspiricy, brings Dooku up to speed on the situation.
The Republic forces crush the Sepertist space forces and commence with landing Clone troopers and the Chancilors new Stormtroopers to relieve the Jedi and the defenders on the planet. The half defeated defenders cheer at the sight of landing troops and charge the Sepertists. The battle rages, but the tide has turned and slowly the Republic troops push back the enemy until at last they break and the are masacured by the clone troopers and the newer Stormtroopers.
The battle is over, and Count Dooku hands Comadore Tarkin his final orders from the Chancilor, then takes a shuttle down to the planet to witness the end. Tarkins orders are to destroy the Jedi and all defenders on the planet.
The Jedi were ravished by the battle with the Sepertist. Mace Windu assembles the last of his battle weary warriors as a lone shuttle lands not too far away from their position. Smiles of victory vanish as Count Dooku, Lord of the Sith exits the shuttle with a score of new and fresh Stormtroopers. Knowing what was to follow by this betrayal, the Jedi immeadiatly commence battle with the Stormtroopers who try to swarm the Jedi.
Dooku faces Mace and the two Masters commence an epic battle to be remembered down through the ages. At its end, Dooku lays defeated and dead and Mace again trys to rally his Jedi but to no avail. The betrayal of the Republic forces has sealed their doom and no one, Jedi or ally of them, lives to tell the tale.
After the battle, on Coruscant, Supreme Chancilor Palpatine shows the Senate holo pics of the Jedi attacking the Republic forces and declares them traitors in league with the now defunked Sepertist Movment. Decrying an attempt of the Jedi to wrestle power away from the Senate and take the reines of power, the Supreme Chancilor disbans the Jedi Order and issues arrest warrents for all suvivors.
Then, with the Sepertist movment crushed and a loyal army behind him, Palpatine declares himself Emperor and vows to scourge the galaxy of the rest of the Sepertists and their Jedi Overlords to restore the galaxy to one of peace and prosperity. At his side, his new Champion, Lord Darth Vader who was once a Jedi but saw the corrupt and tratorous actions of his former order and has left them to serve the galaxy and his emperor.

Great? It was bloody fantastic!
"The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."

Reckon you could rejig it so it happens at the start?

Probably, but it would give all the goodie's at the front of the movie instead of the end. *shrug* Lucas loves his little three battles in one motiff, so it is probable that something of the sort will happen.Vympel wrote:Reckon you could rejig it so it happens at the start?
My personal belief is that while Anakin will sway to the Darkside at times, he will need another devistating moment to turn completely. Taking a chunk of the movie to express that the Jedi have found out not only about Anakins illicted marrage but an abomination of a child, could set up the trigger to have Anakin go bye-bye and bring Darth Vader on out.
If Palpatine can convince Anakin that the Jedi think that his kid is an abomination and might try to destroy it, then Anakin 'could' have the excuse to believe that his master, Obi Wan might try to harm Padme and the kid. Mix in a little Dooku and boom, instant fight between Anakin and Obi.
And I still think that Mace and Dooku should duke it out. Not Dooku and Anakin.

So who does Anakin get to kill? Mace is a character of relevantly minor importance, killing a major villain Sith Lord with him would be basically plot suicide- besides, Lucas has already pretty much emphasized in interviews and such that Luke is basically following in his father's footsteps, so I'd expect Anakin to go through the same ROTJ before the Emperor type situation, somehow.Knife wrote: And I still think that Mace and Dooku should duke it out. IMO, Anakin would get that RotJ treatment by having to turn and fight his aboptee father. We know that Anakin thinks of Obi as his father figure and he has told just about everyone who would listen about this.Vympel wrote:So who does Anakin get to kill? Twisting Anakin with a ficticious threat against his wife and kid and by making that ficticious threat seem to come from his father figure, Palpatine can get the same emotion twisting and confusion that we saw him attempt in RotJ with Luke and Vader.

Isn't the existence of Anakin's children supposed to be a secret up until the destruction of Death Star I? If that is the case, Anakin should not know about Luke.Knife wrote:IMO, Anakin would get that RotJ treatment by having to turn and fight his aboptee father. Naboo N1s participating in an actual fleet engagement ? The Naboo are not exactly known for military capabilities. I doubt their fighters would be a match for anything real defense corporations like KDY or Siener fleet systems could churn out en masse. Naboo is a little known off world in the galactic rim, they would never participate in any galactic conflict, even if they did it would not even be noticible. In simple words naboo participating in a galaxy wide conflict of epic proportions is like a pacific island takling part in world war III.With a flash, a large fleet of Acclamators and their escorting Victories enter the system and vector in on the Sepertists. Areosprites, Naboo N1's, and Z95 Headhunter boil out of the hangers of the Republic ships as the enemy formation turns to face the coming vessels.
Also you have mentioned Trade Federation battleships. Frankly I do not think these ships are the primary ships of the seperatists. We will probobly going to see real warships in episode 3. This is likely since the seperatists have thousands star systems supporting them they would have aquired the defense capabilites and shipyards of many military powers.
The same goes for the Republic forces. Obviously a military that maintains order through an entire galaxy has a massive starfleet of formidable warships. The Accamalators seen in episode 2 were mere troop transports. Hopefully episode 3 will show the actual fighting force of the Republic.
If Vader believes that Padme and the kid (probably does'nt know that they're twins there) then it really is a secret, until Vader puts shit together on Bespin durring ESB. So it works .

Actually I had always though that until Palpatine created a centralized fleet for the Empire, that the Republic used a decentralized military force. Just about every major system that we know of has its own military force. My thoughts are that durring a conflict, a centralized force of Republic forces acts as a command and control hub while the individual systems or concerns supplies conscripts to form a large army or navy to defeat opponents.evilcat4000 wrote:Naboo N1s participating in an actual fleet engagement ? Besides, like it or not, Naboo is knee deep in the galactic civil war at this point. Its senetor was a participent that ignited the conflict and some of the enemy are enemies of the Naboo people going back 10 years. As for fighting prowess of the N-1, they did seem to fare well against the Trade Federation forces durring the Naboo crisis.
Keep in mind that while I am trying to visualize what will happen in Ep III (as per the thread) I am not trying to creat too many new ships or equipment. I will have to come up with some stuff, but I am trying to limit myself with cannon and EU shit. From what we have seen, the Trade Federation converted War Freighters are the largest and probably most powerful ship that the Separatists have. Also you have mentioned Trade Federation battleships. Frankly I do not think these ships are the primary ships of the seperatists. We will probobly going to see real warships in episode 3. Perhaps you missed the part where I mentioned the Victory Stardestroyers. I am taking the position of the Acclamators being assult ships like modern day LHA's or something of the sort, while the escorting Victories are the dedicated warships meant to engage the enemy fleet. I have thought of mentioning the two other warships the Dr. Saxton mentioned in the ICS but I have not gotten that far yet.The same goes for the Republic forces. Obviously a military that maintains order through an entire galaxy has a massive starfleet of formidable warships. The Accamalators seen in episode 2 were mere troop transports. Hopefully episode 3 will show the actual fighting force of the Republic.
Remember that the post was a premise. I am fleshing the concept out in the fanfic forum.

Headhunters were stated to be the best fighter at the time of TPM by a veteran republic pilot (low level canon). So, they were at least 13 years old at the time of Ep3. Officially the early runs of TIEs were produced to the Republic, and I feel a mass produced cheap and unshielded fighter would fit better to the mass produced clone pilots whose individual survival did not really count.Knife wrote:Headhunters were supposed to be of that era or close too it, the hodge podge group of fighters are Alderinian in nature. What do you think about it?
Well IIRC the book correctly, the veteran pilot was retired so the Headhunter could be even older than that. I put the Z95 for the Alderinian forces because of that. It is not the top of the line ship but close (as of that era). I doubt at this time that I will personally used a Tie dirivitive because of what I told the other guy. I am trying to use cannon or EU ships and vehicles for the short and will try to not create my own shit. To use a TIE like fighter, I would have to create one and I would prefer to use exisiting ships at this point.Headhunters were stated to be the best fighter at the time of TPM by a veteran republic pilot (low level canon). So, they were at least 13 years old at the time of Ep3. Officially the early runs of TIEs were produced to the Republic, and I feel a mass produced cheap and unshielded fighter would fit better to the mass produced clone pilots whose individual survival did not really count.
What do you think about it?
One would hope to see a TIE like fighter in Ep III, but I will use what we have seen in the movies and EU for my pathetic version.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong
But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red

Adendum (sp?) At this point, I doubt that the Republic will use clones for the pilots of starfighters. By the TPM book, we know that the Republic does employ human or other for starfighter pilots and that will fit in nicely with my confederated type military model.
I am still not convinced that by the OT era, that TIE pilots are clones like the Stormtroopers. The Grand Army uses clones for the gunships out of convience and not out of necessity, IMHO.
