US vs a Nation which has a Military According to Manji

Post by Acclamator »

The US has to invade a nation. It's an island nation which is about the size of great Britain and Ireland joined together. Its military on land numbers 250,000 regular army and 10,000 marines.

The military personell in all branches of the military are assumed to be as well trained and competant as any western military.

The standard armament of the soldier is the M4 assault rifle, which is fed from a 1,000 round helical magazine on his back, as detailed here: http://bbs.stardestroyer.net/viewtopic. ... highlight=

The mainstay of their armored/mechanized infantry is the 260 foot 4,000 ton ubertank (lets be generous and assume it can make 15 mph (24 km/h)) with the Iowa guns, detailed here: http://bbs.stardestroyer.net/viewtopic. ... highlight=
Lets say that they have 400 of those.

The flagship of their navy is this: http://bbs.stardestroyer.net/viewtopic. ... highlight=

They also have the battleship submarine: http://bbs.stardestroyer.net/viewtopic. ... highlight=

And the battleship/carrier airship: http://bbs.stardestroyer.net/viewtopic. ... highlight=

Their primary artillery piece is the 155mm gatling gun with an 800 RPM refire rate: http://bbs.stardestroyer.net/viewtopic. ... highlight=

Do you think the US could invade them, and how long would it take?
200 GT TLs.

6 MT Point defence guns.

1 KT Starfighter cannon (Near-Hiroshima-level damage!)

Their entire military is incapable of any modicum of mobile warfare. US air and land attacks cut their line of supply within days, while their ludicrous army flounders around on land and tries in vain to stop them. The US probably never needs to make contact.

Their flagship will have to be taken out by nukes.

It would be best to leave weapons of mass destruction out of the conflict. It's reasonable to assume that the attacked country also has them and then it would become MAD.
If the objective is to gain the war, then it would be a simple question of keeping siege until the island surrenders. A frontal assault would take a very large force

The Air-ship could be taken out by two F-16s, volloy of there missiles then follow with front cannons to make sure(Make em Uranium Dep slugs to be sure)

Anyway with that out of the way the Sub and Flag-ship will sink by itself no intervention needed on our part :D

Then blockaed em and don't even get near the land military

Assuming that Manjii monstruosities can be built

Sea
You have not specified what escorts are available for the Manjii version of freedom ship.If no escorts are available it would be very simple:take a 688
and start to pour Mk 48 torpedoes into the already structurally weak monster until it breaks apart. With the noise that the propellers would generate she would not be able to detect the submarine or shoot back at it.It would be a cakewalk. If escorts are available it would be a bit more challanging depending on their characteristics but the concept still applies .The battleship submarine would be hampered by its useless turret and the consequent higher level of noise but it might create problems with its torpedoes.Note that actually the french navy built something similar "Le Surcouf" but it was a failure.

Land
This hypothetical army is hampered by a severe lack of mobility. The soldiers cannot simply move around with all that ammo.Even if the uber magazine is only partially loaded it is still a somewhat inefficient weapon.
Idem for the 155mm gatling gun, although this is a bit more practical.
The Uber tank would be a perfect target for the aviation.Ironically Hitler had something similar in mind. http://members.tripod.com/~fingolfen/su ... p1000.html

I do not have the knowledge to evaluate the air part.

The airship is a target that will pretty quickly be killed.

There infantry would have little equipment beyond there personal weapons do to weight, they will be easy prey for crew served weapons, or monkeys with hand grenades for that matter.

The Giant tanks are zero threat. Their air defenses would be easily suppressed, and Maverick shots will disable them with ease. If killing is an issued, GBU-24 ready for release..

The flagship won't require nukes. Instead its air group will be overwhelmed by four carrier battle groups, and then we throw full deck strikes of Hornets along with B-52s at it, repeat as needed. After 100-200 Harpoon and SLAM strikes, the Hornets close and use Skippers, then the burning wreck gets its main battery wiped out with BLU-109s.

At that point its child's play for subs to swarm it and pump 50 MK48s into it. Actually, if she doesn't have about 100 ASW escorts protected by AAW escorts 50 miles out to avoid her own machinery noise that could be done from the start.

The gun armed sub dies very quickly to USN ASW assets, the turret would make an insane amount of flow noise.

The airship dies easily, if not from the AIM-54 strikes, then from a dozen SLAM hits, or AGM-142's/

The Gatling guns shatter after 3 seconds firing, making them irrelevant.

The US would win quite easily.

The infantry would be no match thanks to the weight

The tanks best taken out from the air.

Their flagship best be taken out by subs. It would be the cheapest and easiest solution.

The battleship subs get taken down by US ASW assets

I'd send commando teams against the airships, to use missiles and guns against them seems to be a waste.

Artillery would self-destruct

Well it will be quite annyoing for the US to kill all these behemoths since they probably won't go down easily, but Manji's army simply lacks the mobility to accomplish anything against any opposing force.

If instead of building the behemoths the country had spent the money building fighters and defense facilities the U.S wouldn't have a chance. Probally, building any one of those things would cripple the U.S economy

Well, considering that you'd have to be pretty dumb to think of building vessels like that, I don't think they'd be worth invading. Anyway, the mile-long ships will probably carry tens of thousands of crewmen, so if one of thme is sunk, it will be a major loss.

Tanks:

Sink in the roads, killed by aircraft.

Artillery:

Breaks down. If it doesn't never gets that high RoF.

Super magazine:

Very heavy and slows down soldiers. War isn't spraying each other with bullets. Sustained fire will melt the barrel.

Air:

Big. Ass. Target.

BB Sub:

Sinks itself the second it fires, or is sunk due to being easily detected with a deck gun.

BB/CV super ship:

Assuming she could actually be built, a few Seawolves kill her with some torpedoes.

The Sub, and Battle Ship would sink of thier own accord when introceded to the principles off this little thing called bonuacy

The Air-Craft Blimp could be taken out by a single fighter and 200 rounds for his front guns

The rest you would not even have to get involved
