I thought this thread was going to have us all report on what our IQ test results have been when we've been tested for real. Not that those test results are necessarily much better than the internet results, since generic IQ tests only test specific types of intelligences and are therefore biased against anyone who doesn't have the types of intelligence which are condusive to a written-out only form of testing, which only tests reading, comprehension, language usage and various mathetmatical skills.

That being said, my mother never wanted to tell me my IQ because she was afraid I'd go around bragging (in the way this thread has turned). So, if you really care, I'll tell you. Otherwise, you'll just have to guess or not care.

A high IQ is not a replacement for common sence. A lot of people i know have high IQ's. I wouldn't trust half of them to do a weeks shopping on their own.

One of my best friends had “genius level” IQ in high school… he almost flunked out. He was good at aptitude tests, yet couldn’t organize his life enough to pass a regular test. The reason is that IQ tests don’t require much knowledge. In an exam if you haven’t studied/read-up on the subject, things like dates and formulas don’t magically appear in your head.

My mate, one of the brightest guys I know, canny bloke, doing medicine at cambridge, will doubtless become a fantastic doctor or whatever he wants to do - but he seems like the kind of bloke who would sew you up and then remember he left his torch in your lower intestine.

He'd be a great doctor for kids though, he's just one of those eccentric characters...

Very few "official" tests available to the masses. They're kept restricted so people can't learn to "beat the test".

*shrugs* I did a 'real' one a few of years ago and got only a couple of points higher.

I think the fact that people on this board are getting high scores is less to do with the fact that they are being creative with the truth or that the test is inaccurate and more to do with the fact that this board perhaps attracts a certain *type* of person.

IQs arent a big deal though, as expressed by Lord Pounder and Zoink.

I'm really trying hard not to go on a rant here, but I'm just going to register that you all know how much crap I believe IQ to be. It measures FA except you ability to do IQ tests - which is a pretty useless skill outside of the British Grammar School system- and does not reflect any sort of superior intellect. Having a high IQ is not something to be proud of because it doesn't reflect anything tangible in the slightest.
