Mass of Acclamator?
How much does/can this thing weigh? It has neutronium armor, carries a shitload of equipment, and lands on a planetary surface without caving in the ground. Can the mass be calculated from the max acceleration and reactor power? Can the legs carry and distribute its weight properly?
It's mass could be estimated based on it's accel, if you knew a bit more about the engines. I'm working on calcs for an ISD that do that, based on Necronlord's very workable duplicator fuel theory. It would be easy enough to modify the calculator to churn out other figures for other ships.
And it doesn cave the ground in because it uses repulsors.

I'm glad to see someone noticed.Ender wrote:It's mass could be estimated based on it's accel, if you knew a bit more about the engines. Don't forget to cut the output by an order of magnitude as my first duplicator estimates were for an SSD or a Vengance producing new ships in it's cavity, so I multiplied the ISD peak power by ten.

Theres a good sized chunk of support for it. Aside from the lack of sufficient fuel space otherwise, the ICS of the ISD shows that each engine has its own dedicated reactor that could power the duplicators and engine bell. Pluss the TF droid starfighter is noted as odd for having a solid fuel slug that it burns for thrust.NecronLord wrote:I'm glad to see someone noticed.Ender wrote:It's mass could be estimated based on it's accel, if you knew a bit more about the engines. I'm approaching it by determining how much fuel must be expelled at relativistic velocities, then multiplying by C^2, then dividing by the efficiency.Don't forget to cut the output by an order of magnitude as my first duplicator estimates were for an SSD or a Vengance producing new ships in it's cavity, so I multiplied the ISD peak power by ten.
For example 5 kg expelled at .9 c gets you the speed you want, and your duplicators have 70% efficiency in energy to mass conversion, you get 6.43E17 joules required. This should be easily achievable by the reactors.

Ah. A long time since I've seen that diagram...

I'm aware of the idea that the Acclamator's repulsors keeps it from caving in the ground. But are you telling me that the Acclamator's landing equipment is designed like a typical Starfleet system? Requiring constant active energy to maintain? The Acclamator is a freaking assault transport. It is in the line of fire. What happens if it gets hit by an ion cannon and the repulsors go? And how useful are the Acclamator's landing gear anyway?

In this case, there really is no alternative. However, repulsors appear to be reliable and safe enough to have floating platforms in the Coruscant sky 24/7.Towlie wrote:I'm aware of the idea that the Acclamator's repulsors keeps it from caving in the ground. Does it use a similar forumla as that of my jet power Exhaust power calculator?Ender wrote:It's mass could be estimated based on it's accel, if you knew a bit more about the engines. Ok, my memory failes me here slightly, the name Acclamator rings quite a large bell, but where it's from, etc, eludes me. Someone care to fill in the blanks?

The Acclamator is the big dagger-shaped transport at the end of AotC. If that's what you meant.Dorsk 81 wrote:Ok, my memory failes me here slightly, the name Acclamator rings quite a large bell, but where it's from, etc, eludes me. Someone care to fill in the blanks?

I know the name Acclamator, but I didn't know it was from AotC, I thought it was from a novel, was Acclamator in another novel or was it discussed here? I'm sure I've heard the name before, but I though it was in a novel, maybe I'm just going madYT300000 wrote:The Acclamator is the big dagger-shaped transport at the end of AotC.
