Klingon boarding party beams down on Kashyyyk

Post by Next of Kin »

Scenario:

The Klingons beam down 500 of their best warriors armed with traditional Klingon weapons and issue a battle challenge to 300 Wookies who armed in their traditional style. What would be the outcome of this battle?

(Fighting to take place in the trees)

I think they would go to the local pub and get drunk of their asses.

Actually, the Klingons while strong, don't show the brute strength of the Wookies. The wookies are tall and have a long reach. On the other hand, wookies rely on brute strength while SOME klingons try and master something other then that. The Batleth would make a decent defense/offense weapon. What melee combat weapons do wookies use?

Chewbacca doesn't rely on brute strenght. When they entered the detention cell, he had nothing but himself and his huge paws to fight with, and he promptly smacked an officer across the room. Did he continue and run across the room to hit everyone else? Nope. They handed him a blaster and with skillful precision he started blasting people. In Empire Strikes Back, to try and save Han, he uses the only thing he has. His massive paws and begins to toss Stormtroopers over the edge. Yet, when they are running, does he throw the captured blaster to the ground? Nope. Chewbacca begins picking off the pursuing troopers with lethal accuracy. In Return of the Jedi (albeit, it was his only option) it is Han you fist fights the scout, while Chewbacca picks up his bowcaster and takes out the speederbick, with yet again, a supreme display of accuracy. It is noted many times in the Expanded Universe that Wookiees constantly work on thier skills in mutlitple roles. In fact, they have to descend to the depths of Kashyyykk as a right of passage to mature into adult hood. There they take weapons and hunt a dangerous predator. The Wookiees will still have thier Ryykk blades to contend with the Klingon warrios Bat'leth. I can't say that I have to much recolition about Klingon fighting scenes, however if Star Trek III and the episode where the pregnant Major Kira (deny it, she was with child and in a mood swing!!!) takes out a battalion of Klingons is any indication, the Wookiees only need about fifty of thier warriors to claim victory.

If we remove the granade launchers, that couls be quite fun, depending on quality of armour, mass of men, and distance charged.

They use Ryyk blades, which are generally unique to each tribe. Wookies are bigger, stronger, and almost certainly faster than the Klingons. Their weapons (as demonstrated by EGWT), are better designed than the Bat'leth and Mekleth (which are both heavy for no reason, provide little additional reach, and the bat'leth uses the wrong muscles, limiting its effectiveness in combat). While heavy, Ryyk blades are clearly superior weapons, analogous in most ways to machetes that have been scaled up for Wookie use. The bat'leth is not a decent defense/offense weapon. Its design is laughably poor, except as a ceremonial weapon. The fact that it is used frequently in Klingon combat demonstrates mind boggling stupidity on the part of the entire race.

Wookies have a field day. They're far stronger, with better reach, and they live in trees, so they have the terrain familiarity advantage. Whereas the Klingons fight with those ridiculous bat'leths instead of guns, and have little experience fighting in the treetops. BTW, do Klingon outfits count as armor?

Yes and no. To do an overhead smash with Batleth one must lift the blade over ones head. This exposes vital areas of the body ie. the chest and the arm pits.

The Batleth would probably be okay as a strictly defensive blocking thingy, but it has no offensive abilities to speak of. In other words, you can parry okay with it, but not attack.

The Wookies could just climb up into the trees and rain down rocks and bow caster bolts onto the Klingon's. And if they fight hand to hand, the Wookies have a strength and weapons advantage, in addition to being smarter.

This all makes for an easy Wookie victory, you'd need thousands of Klingon's to turn thing around, and even then the Klingon's would likely starve first.

Umm Sea Skimmer where are they going to get rocks? The live on a forest planet, The Treets are KMs tall and they live on the top, going half way down the tree means brining Heavy Artillry. So how are they going to get rocks?

Actually, Wookies do go down into the lower levels of their world from time to time. They usually do it in numbers, but they do not need heavy artillery. In fact, they sometimes go down without any weapons heavier than bowcasters, and Chewie and Lowbacca both went down with nothing more than Ryyk blades. Other Wookies have ventured into the lower levels with only their claws for protection. Kashyyk has some very dangerous plants and animals, but strong and able Wookies have been known to venture down into the lower levels without horrible problems.

Given the Klingon's lack of climbing claws, and stupidity, I'd assume they would be on the ground.

The Wookies do go down to the ground floor, some of the time. It would be no big deal for them to climb down to the ground and bring rocks up a few hundred feet with backpacks.

Personally I'd think that Klingons would be killed by all the surface life on Kashyyk. Apparently it's among one of the deadiest in the galaxy. But Wookies would kill a group of Klingons. The only time I've seen Klingons pull off something clever TNG era was that Episode in TNG when two Klingons got by a force fiels in the brig created a crude Disruptor and nearly destroyed the Enterprise, by point the weapon at the warp core.
Otherwise Wookies are far far more clever than any Klingon.

Honestly though, I don't think that Klingons could stand a chance against a Wookie with hand to hand or melee weapons. And since all the Klingon fighting action that I have seen seems to depict them as droping their rifle weapons, well enough said.

This is bad for the Klingons ,very bad Kashyyk is best described as a layered deathtrap with the uppermost levels being the safeest .the two lowermost levels are ruled by these giant spiders that are huge, described as beng able to eat wookies in a few bites((got the data from Star Wars gamer so)))anyhow the entire lower levls except for the seas are dark and thats where they live...if the Klingons wind up there they are spider food.

Let me fill you in on a few facts

Number one, By the time of Leia's Vist to Kashyyk the Wookies not once in thier entire existance ever had a recorded existance EVER set foot on the ground of Kashyyk. The wookies and Peollon both say as much in comments. When they say Layered Death-Trap let me give you an example as I dug up a few old sources

Kashyyk's hosts Woyski(sp?) trees that varry inbetween four to nine KM's)Yes thats right they are miles tall) in size..
Wookie Citys are at the 8KM Mark

To pass thier test of manhood and what-not they must go down 2 KM's into the levels where the Syran Plants are found growing, Imagin a giant Venius Fly Trap and you get a good idea of Syran plants except they also inculde a phermo-agent that works as an attractant to everything from Humans and Wookies to the native wild life.

At the Four KM Mark most offical Imperal or otherwise Explorers are quite dead either from the native plant life(Syran Plants grow in size the lower you go it seems) along with Mobile *Vampire like plants which seem to be a small thorny bush except it has several thick strong rope like vines which are hidden from view either inside the plant or danagling down and act like Whips when it decects motition, Its normaly called Vampire as it drinks the blodly fluid of its victums for substance.

There are also much larger creaters towards the bottom and guide to planets I belive describes giant(Five to thirty meter sized) snakes which are perfeclty blended into the trees
They start around the 3.5Km Mark and the best Imperal Zoologists have been able to do even when guarded by Stormy Squads is the 3Km Mark and while the Wookies have FOKE TALES of people going lower, no one in the last four hundred years has ever gone lower.

Sea-Skimmer you just don't understand how Bad Kashyeek is.. If in six hundred years niether armed and armored Stormys get thier rears handed to them and the Native Wookies too at the 4km and 5km Marks what hope do you think the Wookies have of just strolling down to the ground and graping some rocks and then hauling them up three miles when they can you know..
JUST SHOOT THE SONZA @%@%s!
