It looks plastic.
Didn't they have a naming contest for it?

Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."

Yawn. Call me back when they release a commercially viable 300 seat

That's because it is. Thermoplastic, that is, and similar materials. It's supposed to be lighter (thus, more economical) and more resistent than the older planes.Lonestar wrote:It looks plastic.
The looks and specs are no match for the Concord, though. I miss the times when passing through an aeroport was a chance too see those magnificient girls

Those magnificent girls were money sucking clusterfucks. Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think Air France or British Airways made a nickel on Concorde operations.

This one isn't super sonic, and is supposidly 10-15% more fuel effecient than the 757s and 767s it's designed to replace.RedImperator wrote:Those magnificent girls were money sucking clusterfucks. But they had both the legs to run and the looks to impress. They were an engineering marvel which in some aspects are still ahead of our time. They didn't grow old. Economical viability is determinant, thoughRedImperator wrote:Those magnificent girls were money sucking clusterfucks. Building a SST would not be difficult today. There's just no reason to do it.Colonel Olrik wrote:They were an engineering marvel which in some aspects are still ahead of our time.
Howedar is no longer here. Need to talk to him? Talk to Pick.

Most companies prefer aircraft, which can turn a profit at least once in several decades.Colonel Olrik wrote:

Anyway, it looks somwhat interesting. But I'm still waiting for my 400 seat blended wing body passenger planes and 175-ton capacity box in wing freighters. Conventional wings suck I say.
