Ghoulish doc rant

Post by Montcalm »

Last week i saw what the freak who created his ghoulish art with dead body look like, damn he has the demented scientist face we see in old horror movies, for those who do not know who he is,his name is Dr Gunther Van Hagens.

He claim he can do what he want with the corpses cause they gave their bodies to science, since when does a freakshow is considered science.

Unfortunately, "display" is considered science; you may want to adjust your will if this is a problem. Although I'd bash the guy for being a bit freakish (dang, who’d want to do that?), I don't really care so much about the corpses. When I die, feel free to use my body as axle grease if you think it would be of use ;)

My university roommate and best friend had a human skull in his room. His father is a doctor, and it was once his. I never really thought much of it (having grown up seeing it all the time), until in university when a number of people would react: (gasping in shock) "Oh my god, that's a real skull....!?!"

Both this freaky guy and my friend are in the same boat: one guy is making dead art exhibits, my friend has a conversation piece / art. I think if you looked across the world there are probably many similar examples (although this one probably wins the most freakish-deranged award).

It's relative to what you figure you're dealing with.

Myself, I am not into the macabre or grotesque, so mutilations, corpses, etc. just for the shock value of it I consider gross. That said, I have no problems seeing or poking around in creatures living or dead, human or otherwise, and in any state of health or decay.

As for dead things as art, that too is relative. I know people with stuffed and mounted animal corpses on their walls. Nobody except PETA members flinch on that.
Note: I'm semi-retired from the board, so if you need something, please be patient.

Oh, the skull my friend has is named "Bob" and he’s great for impromptu Shakespeare scenes.
