I *really* did not need to see that.

People ask me, "What do you have against India?" I say, " It's a place where monkey-men attack people in city streets and boys breed beetles. How can you not be against India?"
"The rifle itself has no moral stature, since it has no will of its own. Naturally, it may be used by evil men for evil purposes, but there are more good men than evil, and while the latter cannot be persuaded to the path of righteousness by propaganda, they can certainly be corrected by good men with rifles."

I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in his stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Counciler or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate, who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who constantly says: "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I cannot agree with your methods of direct action"; who paternalistically believes he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by a mythical concept of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait for a "more convenient season."

Well, they started as eggs and survived at least long enough to grow wings.

Depends on the organism. Onchcerciasis (river blindness) is where you can get nematodes or worms living in body cavities and under the skin, they can also infect the eye and cause blindness. They certainly survive yet they aren't anaerobic organisms from what I can tell.Darth Wong wrote:How the fuck is that possible? Don't beetles need to breathe air?
This is a bizarre case, but probably as likely as the foetus being attached to the liver in some pregnancies, we just don't hear of all the cases (remember, India is where a potato shaped like any Hindu deity is given worldwide press coverage).

Do not steorytype a country with an individual. Seriously in your entire life have you ever met an individual from India or any south asian countries ? Consider visiting a mosque where you can find muslims from India who will give you a balanced view of the country that is quite different from what you think. Do not know where to find Indian hindus for I am not a hindu.Lonestar wrote:People ask me, "What do you have against India?" You are indeed lucky that you have not lived in the third world. However again India is not what you. It is not a piece of bullshit country like african nations, it is a rising future superpower that could take on China one day.Say after me....thank god we don't live in the third world. Seriously. Jesus this is disgusting.
Indians are not all so poor as you think there are tens of millions people there who are richer than an average american like you. I am not saying you are poor but just because india is poor it does not mean that every indian is a beggar. Have you ever visited silicon valley where the cream Indias information technology people work ? Also consider visiting Bangalore the largest concentration of software developers outside US.
That will give you an idea about the real situation in india.
Recently the man with the longest ear hair ever recorded was put into the Guiness book of World Records. Guess what country he was from? Yep, nothing says "ear hair" like India.
Oh, I have been to Bombay. I watched a man step into a pile of human crap on the street with no shoes. Roundworms, anyone?

Evilcat is right. The situation in India is bad like this, but hardly as severe as it's being bad out to be like from some of the people in this thread. Quite simply, these are just the problems a developing country faces as it industrializes. Europe went through the same sorts of poverty for the lower classes in the 19th century, and the fact that this is happening in India is actually a good sign of sorts, when coupled in with the signs of growth.
Remember, this kid is going to survive--he's getting surgery. In Africa there'd be dozens of kids like this and they'd all die. And a few others would have been eaten by cannibals, and a few thousand more would be dying of AIDS. That's the difference between "developing" and "third world" and it's a pretty stark one.
