*New Titles*

Post by Son of the Suns »

There is going to be a test of a new title system in a few minutes. If your title temporarly disappears, don't worry about it, it will be replaced soon. This thread also includes a poll, if you like the new titles vote yes, if you don't, vote no. Don't worry, the old titles can be brought back if that's what the majority of the people want.

    50 Stormtrooper
    100 Ensign
    150 Midshipman
    250 Sub-Lieutenant
    350 Lieutenant
    450 Lt. Commander
    750 Captain
    1000 Commander
    1500 Commodore
    2000 Rear Admiral
    3500 Vice Admiral
    5000 Admiral
    6500 Fleet Admiral
    8000 High Admiral
    10000+ Grand Admiral

I tried to make it fairly easy to get to higher ranks at first, with progressively more posts required to obtain higher ranks.

Quick question...

My postcount is, at this posting, 1233. Yet my title says Commander.

And yet...

Edit: So as to keep in line with the SW universe I switched Commander and Captain ranks, this is not a mistake. Also there is no "Line Captain" or "Acting sub-Lieutenant" title, since I didn't want to chop the ranks up anymore than they are. If there are any suggestions or corrections please post.

I thought captains outranked commanders. Or is that just some silly Imperial Navy thing?

EDIT: Just saw above post, NM.

"Silly" Imperial Navy thing?

Actually it was an attempt by the New Order to change the old ways and move the navy into a new era. Imperial Commanders are still referred to as Captain, but only out of tradition. ( at least I think, you might ask HDS on that one.)

That's a new one. Though I guess, given the way the EU did it, it's one way to go about it.

Ah well. That still leaves the problem of now I'll never be able to say "I have reached the Jedi Council!" and things of that sort. :|

And this doesn't change the 2000 posts eligibility for a Custom Title, does it (though technically I have one if I ever start posting as Ice again  )?

You can still get a custom title at 2000 or so posts. Of course, if you make stupid suggestions you can get one sooner.

I was wondering why I went from the Jedi Counsel to a Admiral.

Does that mean I get a Star Destroyer?

Personally, I think the old system was good as it was.

The new system seems made just to accomodate super-high postcount members and seems to needlessly complicate the order of the ranks.

I kind of liked the old ability to become a Jedi, eventually, although I really don't care about these little post-count rating systems.

Easy for you to say, Mr. Custom Title.

I like it, though I would like to be directed to where more information about this Captain/Commander swap can be found.

I like it, although the highest ranks may not be used often because by then, just about everybody has a custom title.

As a curious side effect, since I've yet to ask for a custom title, I now outrank nearly everyone on the board except for the Sith Lords, Sith Apprentices, and a few other Rear Admirals

I like the new system, but I think the Captain/Commander switch is bullshit. I don't think the in-game switch is entirely accurate; it could be a confusion between navy and air force ranks. I'm sure you already know Saxton's take on this.
Other than that, it's great.
And you may ask yourself, 'Where does that highway go to?'
