Air Force Academy Cadet Expresses Displeasure with USAF CoS

I bet that this kid's daddy is either 1) rich as hell or 2) top military brass, because I can't imagine a kid raised under normal circumstances doing this shit.

I'm studying for the CPA exam. Have a nice summer, and if you're down just sit back and realize that Joe is off somewhere, doing much worse than you are.

Yes it would.RogueIce wrote:To anybody in the military, this would be quite the breach of protocol.
Heh!As an added note, I posed the question about the SL and heart attacks to my former Senior NJROTC Instructor (SNSI), a retired Navy Commander who spent 21 years in, and got this reply:
I'm sure he will...My SNSI wrote:Too many to count, but I dare say, he'll have an interesting summer and fall.
That's about the same for the Army, except now officers are being promoted to CPT within three years -- I and my generation had to wait the standard four...Wicked Pilot wrote:Promotion to O-2 and O-3 is fully qualified. O-4 and beyond is most qualified. Needless to say, everyone makes Captain in four years unless they do something really stupid.
Actually, given the deluded sense of self importance most of my peers possess, and given he's a freshman, so I figure 18-19 (thus not far off from me), I'm not surprised, actually.Durran Korr wrote:I bet that this kid's daddy is either 1) rich as hell or 2) top military brass, because I can't imagine a kid raised under normal circumstances doing this shit.
Luckily, I know better than to jump the chain of command, so I don't forsee myself e-mailing the CNO if I don't like one of my NROTC instructors.

On the other hand, if this kid suvives and makes it through and learns a few things about military protocol and when, where, and how to apply it, I gotta admit he's got the steel cojones it takes to stand up and make waves.
Unfortunately, his lack of judgement so far does not give me a great feeling of confidence for this...

Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."
In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!
If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!
Grrr! Fight my Brute, you pansy!

Or he hasn't yet figured out that the Air Force Chief of Staff probably couldn't care less what a Cadet Fourth Class thinks on Air Force Academy Leadership choices.Coyote wrote:On the other hand, if this kid suvives and makes it through and learns a few things about military protocol and when, where, and how to apply it, I gotta admit he's got the steel cojones it takes to stand up and make waves.
And odds are he was sleeping when they taught him the whole chain of command concept.

This fate is actually not implausible for him. At the very least, his file is already marked "THULE" in big, bold letters.Coyote wrote:"Congratulations, second lieutenant-- you will be placed in command of a one-man research outpost at McMurdo Antarctic Researc Station on the Ross Ice Shelf. Anchorage is actually a neat place. I wouldn't mind being stationed there, although I wouldn't want to live there for 30 years.Typhonis 1 wrote:Anchorage Alaska or Thule Greenland

Iceland. Greenland eats it. On the other hand, Iceland did give us Bjork, so that's a few strikes against it.HemlockGrey wrote:I wouldn't mind going to Greenland. Or am I thinking of Iceland?
