Buddhism

Post by Gandalf »

As probably none of you know, I've been thinking of joining this religion, as a lot of it's ideas make a sense and they don't seem to be as nuts as some other religions.

So, what are your thought's on Buddhism in general?

It's a nice religion in the sense that it does not advocate shoving your beliefs down other peoples' throats, unlike a certain triumvirate of religions which originated in the Middle East.

Mind you, it's still goofy in its own way, but it's a relatively harmless way.

Well, every religion has a few wackos. At least the Buddhist 'terrorists' have the courtesy of killing themselves, not other people.

They set themselves on fire in protest of the dictator in charge. Diem was also a Catholic, so there were a lot of anti-Buddhist laws (Buddhism was the majority's religion).

Which school of Buddhism are going into? The Mahayana Buddhism of Tibet and Japanese Zen are excellent. They help you achieve contentment. Thervada /Hinayana Buddhism tends to be dogmatic like some Christian sects.

It's a fine religion. It led me to meditation which I practiced for a while.

I will respond to this by posting a part of a fundie pamphlet I encountered while writing my paper on the fundies.
WHAT IS SIN
It is not trusting the fact that Jesus Christ can only be able to save the world from sins as savior.
It is all Hell to worship to other idols like buddihsm, socerers, idolaters, except Jesus Christ(Revelation 21:8 )
It is to commit adultery, being greedy with money, shall not respect parents and devilish thinking and vehavors.

Remember the fearful judgement of God is waiting for the men in the sins without turning out by himselves in repentance.
You must know that an everlasting judgement is ahead for you if you do not believe Jesus Christ. However you can find gracious life forever, if you accept Him as your savior.

It is the time you can choose the choice by yourself now. Wishing you the luck to choose right selection
Note: Everything is completely verrbatum, all the spelling and grammar errors belong to the oringinal author.

So, you see, it is a sin to be a "buddhist" or a "socerer", or to engage in "devilish vehavors". :D

Have a very nice day.

I'm not much into "right-side" religions, but Buddhism would be my primary choice. Of course, you have to deal with Moby being in it.

IIRC, The Dalai Lama and Pope John Paul II wrote a book together.
