Business Owner Chases, Runs Over Robbery Suspects In Hummer
Two Suspects In Critical Condition

POSTED: 1:56 p.m. EDT June 16, 2003
UPDATED: 10:52 p.m. EDT June 16, 2003

A business owner in Phoenix, Arizona took matters into his own hands after a group of men robbed his business, according to a Local 6 News report.

Police say three armed suspects walked into the Mr. Insurance building in Phoenix and demanded money. A fourth suspect was in the getaway car, according to the report. Investigators said after the suspects left with the store's money, the co-owner jumped into his Hummer and chased after the suspects. Police said that the man, identified only as Peter, followed the suspects through a neighborhood and eventually caught up with them. He then rolled his Hummer over their car. Two of the suspects were taken to the hospital in critical condition. The two other suspects managed to get away but police later caught them as well. It is not known if Peter will face charges.

as wrong as is is to chase down robber vigilante style and fuck them up like that, it does send a message to would-be robbers. Not everyone you hold up is just going to roll over and give in, you just might get a looney-toon like GI Peter and his 3 ton Hummer.

hey, i have no problem with tossing a couple 9mm slugs into some jackass felon who is in your house in the middle of the night threating you or your family. But Shep, this guy jumped in his truck, tore ass down the street and when he caught up with the robbers, he tore into them like Truck-a-Saurus at an Alabama monster truck rally! Shit i can almost hear the announcer in my head yelling "SUNDAY-SUNDAY-SUNDAY! AT THE BIRMINGHAM ARENA IT'S BIGFOOT VS. TRUCK-A-SAURUS! SUNDAY-SUNDAY-SUNDAY!"

He attempted to kill people for robbing him when they clearly posed no threat to his own life. Escalation of violence like this is a problem.

He should have plugged them when they were in his store, where they represented a threat to his life. Or he could have followed them in his truck, gotten their plates, and called the police--so long as he stayed near them and didn't try anything stupid, he could have guided the police right to them.

This, satisfying as it is, was a felony, and if one of those men die, he's going to be guilty of murder. It might be a dead shitbag, but even shitbags have the right be secure in their lives unless they represent an immediate threat to someone else's.

The store owner will likely end up in jail for the rest of his life for attempted murder. The robbers, if they go to jail at all, will be out within a decade, committing more robberies...
