It's in both forums. I'm not sure which thread is older.

So, in other words, the Shroud of Turin is essentially the Christian equivalent of the Piltdown Man.

As for the ossurary, I am Jack's complete lack of surprise.

As for the Shroud of Turin, why are the front and back images different heights, and why is the head out of proportion?

It is. Recommend a mod combine them and shelf it in a single forum...

I don't think mods can merge threads with this software...

It has to do with the width of a face. A face has depth to it that can not be conveyed by photgraphs. Anything that wraps a face and is unfolded will be abnormaly distorted. If the shrowd was real then it should have looked like Al Rooker when he was fat and bloated. Instead it looks like a perfect photograph which is impossible for something that was to have been wraped around the face.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but someone who had been dead for merely three days wouldn't leave any such impression on a shroud anyway?

It's painted perfectly flat like a painting. When a cloth is draped over your face, is it flat?

You could get the "negative" effect of the Turin shroud by using coloring methods available at the time it first appeared. However it is IIRC not painted but is some form of imprint of an actual model and from what I recall the distortions of the shroud is consistent with first century burial methods.

Here is a picture of the face itself.

This is just a random note, someone earlier said that the shroud of turin isnt byzantine because it came from about 1380 or something, I would like to remind everyone here that the Roman Empire finally fell in 1453 so it existed in the 1380s thus the shroud could easily by byzantine in nature still.

It probably isn't Byzantine though since it's existance was first reported in France.
