Oh indeed, I had similar feelings after both. Though with Akira's case it was more like "What the hell? That's not an ending!"Saurencaerthai wrote:Don't forget Akira!Gil Hamilton wrote:The movie Perfect Blue has an identical effect.Dalton wrote:I've learned that watching an entire anime series in one night can lead to cottonbrain the following day.

That's what happens when you condense THOUSANDS of pages of a long spanning graphic novel...into a 2 hour packageDalton wrote:Oh indeed, I had similar feelings after both. I know man! I mean, it's touted as such a wonderful, great, awesome film, like the pinnacle of anime, but it wasn't very good nor did it make a lot of sense.Ghost Rider wrote:That's what happens when you condense THOUSANDS of pages of a long spanning graphic novel...into a 2 hour packageDalton wrote:Oh indeed, I had similar feelings after both. I understand there's a lot more Berserk though in the manga; I'd like to see a second series, see what happened between the last episode and the first as I'm confused as fuck all.

Women is evil! Here is my proof:
Women takes time and money.
Women = time x money
Time IS money
Women = money x money = money ^ 2
Money is the root of all evil
money = sqrt(evil)
=> money^2 = evil
since women = money^2
women = evil

Same thing for Gunnm. Hell, I'd stay in the theaters all day to watch an 10 hour version of either! In terms of why it's considdered so great, well, I think that in many respects lays in the actual animation, as I have heard rumors of up to 300 (yes, 300!) frames per second, and I can almost believe it, as from what I remember, the motion was usually pretty smooth. As a movie plotwise, though, I had to do some research on the background stuff (this was before the manga was translated over here) to get anything out of it! I must have watched it like 20 times by now, if not more....

I learned that it's possible for a guy to drive his Mercedes into a SUV, a van, and a building while trying to parallel park beside the building. I have discovered a new found respect for the stupidity and incompetance of the drivers on our roads.

Say, do you want it to be a threesome with your wife? Or a foursome with your wife and sister-in-law? I'm up for either.

The anime Akira does make sense. You just have to know enough about it and be in the correct frame of mind...
There's another aspect to this opinion of mine (and for anime fans in general), but I won't speak of it yet so I don't piss off nearly 1/3rd of the board.![Razz :P](./images/smilies/icon_razz.gif)

I learnt that persistent organic pollutants formed in the industrial temperate zone will have an effect on the cold condensation and global fractionation hypotheses, effecting the distribution of high weight low mobility congeners and making any attempted correlation between the two difficult to chart.
This in itself is not a big issue, I've been looking at this for a few weeks without really absorbing or understanding it, but the big issue was that as soon as I sat down to the exam paper, and it asked me about the global fractionation and cold condensation hypothesis, it all clicked into place and I was able to integrate it into my answer. Go me...![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Oh, and I also learnt that in complete defiance of the laws of physics, the atoms of my brush and the atoms of my anti-perspirent are mutually exclusive, much like the answer and the question, to those of you who are Douglas Adams inclined. Knowledge of the location of one causes the others atoms to cross over to a parallel dimension, and once it reappears, it causes the other one to do the same thing...

I'm currently reading the manga, and I'm wondering why they didn't decide to do it as a TV series rather than a single movie.Ghost Rider wrote: That's what happens when you condense THOUSANDS of pages of a long spanning graphic novel...into a 2 hour package.
