USN vs the rest of the Worlds Navies combined.
The USN vs the rest of the Navies in the entire world.
Devolution is quite as natural as evolution, and may be just as pleasing, or even a good deal more pleasing, to God. If the average man is made in God's image, then a man such as Beethoven or Aristotle is plainly superior to God, and so God may be jealous of him, and eager to see his superiority perish with his bodily frame.

Lets make it in the Central Pacific, near Hawaii. Conventional weapons only. The job of the rest of the world's Navies (excluding Mexico and Canada) is to sink the USN and then secure Oahu as a stepping stone for invading the West Coast...... because Mexico and Canada decided (wisely) to remain neutral.

USN wins, this thread has been done before anyway and belongs in off topic, reality is not sci fi.

There is no generic "fiction" thread; this is as good a place as any to have it.

Actually off topic makes infinitely more sense since it is anything goes while other sci fi is for discussing "other sci-fi series besides SW/ST"BlkbrryTheGreat wrote:There is no generic "fiction" thread; this is as good a place as any to have it.

Can you point me to that thread? It'd be interesting to see what arguments were brought up on both sides. Since it seems nobody's going to do it in this one...Sea Skimmer wrote:USN wins, this thread has been done before anyway and belongs in off topic, reality is not sci fi.

A search should bring it up, but you'd probably need to look in the search forum. Basically the USN stand keep away from the worlds SSK fleet by staying out to sea, its own nuke boats provide ample protection and on the surface 90% of the world warships could be sunk by a single F/A-18 sortie. In this scenario many of the OPFOR warships would run out of fuel before they even reached the battlefield to die under thousands of Harpoons and SLAM's.RogueIce wrote:Can you point me to that thread? Probably at whatever range the US Navy decides to start sending out aircraft sorties.Howedar wrote:At what range is the battle joined, Blkbrry?

The USN wins this rather easily. While the rest of the world seriously outnumbers the USN, they do not have the proper combined tactical capabilities and data-link sharing networks to actualy win this. The most serious threat to the USN will actualy come from the Japanesse and British forces because they field the best anti-air forces. The USN will be able to use its submarine force to gut the enemies rather quickly. SSKs can be dealt with by simply remaining at high speeds. The enemy airforces don't stand a chance against a single CVN let alone 12 of them and 9 LHA/LHDs.
If the rest of the world could even get in range to fire some of their weapon systems, they would go down hard. The USN can launch a massive ammount of defensive weapons with their SM-2s and the AEGIS system.
The USN wins for the simple reason that it can work as a collective force while the C&C capabilities of the rest of the world is woefully inadequate and they will be quickly picked off. Nations like China and Russia aren't even a threat. The nations that will put up the best fight would be the RN and the Japanesse.

Actually Russia SSNG's are the only really significant threat. But then there also exactly what the USN is equipped and trained to fight.

I've never ever ever, seen such a CNN presents or TLC extreme machines, influenced thread!
give me a break!
AMERICA BEATS EVERYONE, lol
There is a REASON everyone believes american equiptment is 50% better than everyone else's,
CNN,
TLC
Get the idea? We saw what 25 dollar RPG's did to those m1a2 and m1a1's, did they crack the armour? no
did they make them useless in the battle field? yes
American forces don't have force fields and 100% accuracy like everyone likes to think, just take a look at the dozens of Bradley's that were torn apart like tin cans.
Except now you got a handful of american aircraft carriers (without those, they have no chance) that will be the primarly target for every single surface and submerged ship in the world.
There are probably more ships out there that could take out a Nimitz than there are defensive missles and offensive harpoons that could defend against them.
This is so rediculous
This reminds me of the America vs the world thread,

More on the lines of no one has more then a fraction of the capability. 90% of the worlds warships would require a single sortie to sink, only about eight could hope to repel a squadron level attack. The USN has more active nuclear submarines then every other fleet combine and then some and SSK's are fodder on the high seas.Omega-13 wrote: Keep swallowing all the CNN presents bullshit

You think other radar screens explode when the USN sends out its jammer aircraft? I could ramble off names of fighter jets, patrol jets I could list the seriel numbers, but anyone can name off a bunch of names, to hope to look half intelligent.
where the hell are you getting these figures? puff out of thin air?90% of the worlds warships would require a single sortie to sink, only about eight could hope to repel a squadron level attack.
Quoting something the Pentagon said to the public? hah
Thats why congress was shitting their pants when they first heard of the Sunburn.
of course they are, infact I heard their crews were so incompetent, that they ran into Moby Dick.SSK's are fodder on the high seas.

The Russian Navy can sink the entire Chinese Navy incredibly easily- all it would take would be the Pacific Fleet's 949A Oscar II SSGNs, guarded by Akula SSNs. The surface combatants need not get involved.Arrow Mk84 wrote:I think the USN takes it. The only real problem would be the British navy and possibly the Chinese. Now if this was set twenty years ago, the Russian navy would pose a very serious threat.
But keep in mind that I'm biased on this one!

I don't know which side to take in this debate yet since I don't have enough information, but are you serious about using the Congress Shit-o-Meter to gauge combat threat of a weapon? They shat their pants at the MiG 25 and 31 too, turned out to be no big deal.Thats why congress was shitting their pants when they first heard of the Sunburn.
Busily picking nuggets out of my well-greased ass.
The Moskit (SS-N-22 SUNBURN) does have impressive abilities- but it's range (250km) does not make it a credible offensive threat against an entire US carrier battlegroup without being supported by a host of other units, as in any naval engagement. If a US surface ship closes the distance to use Harpoons on it, then it's a threat.JodoForce wrote: I don't know which side to take in this debate yet since I don't have enough information, but are you serious about using the Congress Shit-o-Meter to gauge combat threat of a weapon?
It was the military who shit their pants over the MiG-25. It's actually a pretty cool interceptor- it's not Mikoyan-Gurevich's fault that they got it's role wrong. They didn't shit their pants over the MiG-31, but the MiG-31 is an extremely effective interceptor for protecting the Motherland. It is capable of intercepting both bombers and low-flying cruise missiles, and it's radar is absurdly powerfulThey shat their pants at the MiG 25 and 31 too, turned out to be no big deal.
