But glass and steel architecture doesn't do much for me, I had seen some other designs that would haven't been quite so greenhouse-ish.
Later yes, but in the early 50's they along with the RB-36's where basically immune. Soviet fighters could sometimes match their speed and altitudes but didn't have the fuel for an actual interception. A few areas like Moscow had enough defenses to keep them away, but for the most part the planes wandered at will until large numbers of SA-2's showed up. Then the U-2 took over which its self was pretty well protected against that system unless it stalled out. In recovering from a stall the plane could lose 20,000 feet of altitude, and that’s what got Powers, he had the poor luck to have a stall directly over an SA-2 site.
Well, that's nice, but I think it was meant for someplace else.

What are you talking about?

I caught you posting that here, instead of in Politics perhaps?
You really have too much free time if your making up fake posts to quote.

Like I would make up a fake post, and attribute it to you of all people!
Anyone with a postcount like yours is going to make a slip-up, from time to time.
Silence! No more of this prying!
