Here's another FYI, Dalt: In my experiance, the only people I know that use "gay" to mean "stupid or dumb" are Whiggers and Macho Assholes.

I also don't think you're some gay-bashing troglodyte for using it, either, I think I know you a little better than that by now. And you, of all people, should be able to come up with a better rationale for not using it other than the fact that Zaia and I don't like it.

I can't. It's part of my ingrained dialect; that sort of thing can be hard to shake. I don't have a better rationale. So I'll avoid using it here.

Something general. If it is "Cantina" it becomes too Star Wars-- not that that is bad, but n00bs will think it is an extension o the SW forums and we'l get a lot of spillover for our mods to clean up.

Everybody who comes here knows immediately what "Off-Topic" means. I see no reason to change it. Cantina, Zocalo, and Ten-Forward are all specific to a particular sci-fi series and may be confusing to those who don't follow those sci-fi series (my wife has watched Star Wars, for example, but probably wouldn't know what the hell "Cantina" is supposed to mean). Off-Topic is obviously that which doesn't go anywhere else.

It was part of mine, as well, but then I decided to stop saying it around the beginning of my first year at university simply because I wouldn't appreciate people unjustifiably associating my lifestyle with "stupid." So, now I've shaken it from my vocabulary (sometimes I'll call something "gay" when I'm drunk, but it's definitely not a part of my regular speech anymore). Trust me, once you manage to shake it, you'll sound a lot less like some high school sycophant.

On some boards, it's called "General Chat". The problem is that people might think it's a chatroom, and we do want to cut down on chatty use of bandwidth (even though it sometimes feels like a chatroom anyway).
