I am currently watching Citizen Kane for the first time. I've heard the voice of Orson Welles earlier today as "The Shadow" via OTR MP3, but I never knew before what a fucking genius this guy was.
Makes me wish there were writers and actors like him now.
Most of the best in films, as far as dialog, and acting, is in the old b/w classics.
They couldn't use FX, or visualy stunning sets and costumes, so they used acting, plots, lighting, editing, and DIALOG!
Watch the noir films of the 40s and 50s. Some all time great lines.
"You shouldn't oughta rat on ya friends Frankie. When ya do, your enemies, they don't repsect ya, and, well, ya ain't GOT no friends!"
Hmmmmmm.

Brotherhood of the Monkey
I've heard it described as the best movie ever made.
Dunno 'bout that, but it is fantastic.
Rumor has it that "rosebud" was Hearst's nickname for Marion Davies' clitoris, and that the film threw him into paroxysms of rage. Hehe, served the war-mongering racist old vulture right!
