War Nebula?

you know what i don't get? The Nebula has 8 single fire torpedo tubes mounted in a massive pod. The Akira has 7 pulse fire tubes mounted in it's tiny pod. What uses alll of the extra space? are there phasers? shield generators? sensors? holo-porn suites? what the hell takes up all that space?

Maybe it is torpedo storage space.

that would make for a hell of a lot of torpedoes! thousands maybe.

Well the Akira is newer and is a dedicated warship. The Nebula is older and its possible that the pod has torpedo storage as well. Saves on space for other uses in the saucer itself.

Plus the fact that the Nebula was built along with the Galaxy class ships and back then Starfleet might have thought that all of those tubes didn't need to be burst fire tubes because there are more of them. The Akira is definitely more geared towards fighting than the Nebula was/is.
