UK Asshole Marketing

Post by Keevan_Colton »

Faq here
For anyone else in the UK, I thought I'd share this piece of shit marketing tactic that's being used now. Companies/individuals getting 0870 numbers, calling people, hanging up as soon as they pick up and waiting for people to call back using 1471 or the like to see why they were called....these people then get a fee for every incoming call on thier 0870 number......

Heh. Caller ID is a beautiful thing. Though we did have a problem with someone getting a little too aggressive calling us--9 times in one day. I had a little chat with them about things like the Federal Trade Commission and my attorney and suggested they put my number on the no-call list or else they'd be speaking with the above. Curiously, after that, they stopped calling.

I can always tell them to stop ringing me, if they don't, I sue their arses.

They'll do anything to annoy you and make money. They're even going to start doing something similar here in the US.

I get the occasional text off telemarketers, but to be honest they don't concern me what with not having a landline connection at uni.
