This seems a fine question for the folks here.

In lieu of WMDs, the current Republican line is that the Iraqis are better of now then they were under Saddam. I think we all know he made some pretty stupid decisions while in power.

So here's a goal for you all: Select a third world country, start a WMD program, and try and stave off international/US invasion as long as possible.

Would you do it by being an all-around nice Dictator? Or prehaps surround yourself with much more horrible nations? Pave roads? Crush the populace under the yoke of tyranny?

Id probably take the same route as my nationstates country, it has a excellent economy, good civil rights, and no political freedoms.

Make sure lots and lots of US Fortune 500 companies are invested heavily in my cheap labor pool. Periodically denounce Communism and terrorism. Allow the UN to open a few medical missions for PR purposes and I will be invincible.

The easiest way for a 3D world nation to start up a WMD program is to become chums with the US. Then they'll give you money and planes and you can be like Israel!

I'd make money by getting corporate sponsors (We're no longer Rwanda! We're the Kindom of McDonaldland!), finding something of some use (Natural resources, farmland, something that can be mass-packaged and sold ot gullible morons as a miracle cure), and/or scalping (Military hardware, concert tickets). If there's nothing I can do to get the place out of the 3rd world, then I'd do my best to end conflicts, famine, etc.

I'd take over Angola and leave the same crop of morons in charge. The UN will be too busy rushing in to clean up all the landmines to notice the Soman plants while the US will be content as long as an America company owns the oil refineries that fund the whole government.
