Ok...this game is called "intelligent designer" and it doesn't refer to durandal.

Ok...you are God...you've made the world in whatever way you wish, you have a barren planet, you could make it like the christian and predating sumerian or babylonian gods did OR you can do it another way.

All you know is...your fellow gods have told you "you need to make life"

so you ask "what's life?"

and they give you these criteria:

1)it has to be able to move

2)it has to be able to find its own fuel.

3)preferably, it should be able to reproduce in some way, in order to make it last for longer than it normally would.

4)it should be as adaptable to as many varied environments as possible.

5)You can have as much time as you want to let your creations do what they want and to take over the world.

6) They should all want to keep themselves and their offspring alive more than anything else.

It should be pointed out that the life has no prerequisite intelligence factor, and it doesn't need to be organic.

Physics are the same as this universe though, and all atoms have already formed, no making new power sources etc.

This game was inspired by Mike Wong's creationism page where he said "life is ridiculously over complex" so i was wondering how you'd design things if you had the power.

Step 1) Create primitive bacterium. Bacteria can survive anywhere and can exist on a bewildering array of energy sources. And I don't have to worry about designing something so headache-inducing as intelligence.

Make some have different fuel needs, for instance photosynthesis.

Or if you're doing robots, have solar powered ones....etc...

He didn't say they were all "consumers". Even what we call "producers" still find their own fuel. Its called sunlight.

Descendants.

Primary composition: Silicon/Ferrous. Trace carbon(Superplastics).

Motive force: Combination Ion engine/NERVA

Fuel source: Hydrogen. Obtained via ramscoop, skimming of atmospheres, breakdown of oceans.

Method of reproduction: 'Breeder' units, immobile Descendents which process materials brought to them into new Descendents.

Optimal enviroment: Primarily deep space. Instead of generalizing, specific units are built to function in various enviroments and deployed by 'courier' units.

Goal: Conversion of raw materials into addition/further optimized Descendents. Analyzation of existing entities.

Think insect-like specialization. One member of the species is specialized for one thing: Creating more, analyzing a specific form of phenomenon, transporting smaller units, or mining material.

They do move! they close up at night, and follow the sun across the sky during the day.
They also grow...

They use sunlight to synthesise sugars dont they? This is my thread and plants and their robotic counterparts count dammit!

Good, because Breeder and Queen Descendents don't move much. As a Breeder is a massive shipyard, and a Queen is a living planet, almost entirely converted to hardware for one massive brain of digital godhood.
