Emperor Palpatine wrote:However, it seemed as if Dooku didn't know anything about the Clone Army, given from his exclamation "Impossible. The Jedi cannot possibly build up an army so quickly." or something to that line.
Was Dooku just pretending he had no idea of the army, or was really unaware of it? If it was the latter, he could not be the one impersonating Syfo-Dyas.
Anyone here think Syfo-Dyas is Sidious? I don't really buy this idea, no matter that his name used to be Sido-Dyas before Lucas decided to change it. It might be changed to avoid confusion, that's all.
Emperor Palpatine
I think Dooku was very well aware of the army. He might not've ordered the clones himself--Syfo could have, then was killed...who knows for sure--but he knew of them probably before the Kamino peeps started cranking them out.
We know he was absolutely aware of them while manipulating the Separatists. When he stepped out of his ship on Coruscant, and your namesake said, "Welcome home, Lord Tyranus," Dooku says, "The Force is with us, Master Sidious. War has begun." Palpatine responds, "You have done well. Everything is proceding as planned."
Dooku also tried to convince Kenobi that the Republic was controlled by Sidious, perhaps in an effort to drive a wedge between the Jedi and Republic itself. What better way for a Supreme Chancellor (or Emperor) to justify a purge of the Jedi?
Sneaky bastards
The Separatists were SOOOO played
I know it's stating the obvious, but Palpatine really screwed them over in so many ways. Had the Trade Federation, Banking Clans, etc. stayed out of all this, Palpatine would not only have had difficulty rising to power, but if he had, those forces would've posed a threat to his budding Empire.
