Horary! Another expensive pointless novelty for the consumer market. Forward into the future we go. And of course since they're sterile people will have to constantly buy new ones.

I want some. I'll have to get myself some. (Who cares if they're a novelty, I want them to annoy Anti GM people)

SS: The reason they're sterile is because of the laws regarding GM we have here.

This is kind of cool.

But how is this any more of a fashion accessory than those ladies that dress up their little dogs and carry them around in their handbags.

Heh. I have other fish y'know. I used to have some of this species (non GM).

Prehaps they could make a GM Axolotl that's smart enough to figue out where his food is in under ten minutes (If they haven't ambushed it first go, they take forever to find it).

Nahh. :)

And also to make people keep buying new ones. Its' a common practice amung those who market crop seeds to farmers.

And Aly, surely you mean salamanders? Axolotls aren't a species.

I am aware of the 'terminator gene' routine. However, in this case, it's quite clear that it's cuased a massive cost (extra years development) to the company, and people aren't likely to buy replacements anyway. As Skimmer said, it's a novelty, once you've had one set, you probably won't buy again. Thus it's unlikely that the company would have done it anywa, as there's no profit in it.

And Aly, surely you mean salamanders? Axolotls aren't a species.
They're generally called Axolotls, in the same way as there is a seperate term for catterpillars, they were given the name before the species' life cycle was understood. (It was only discovered when in 1865)

Easy. Strap a piece of toast with jam spread on it on a cat's back and drop it.

University of Hawaii did glowing mice some years ago... Very similar.

I can't wait until you have glow-in-the-dark cats... Those would make awersome pets!

Not if you're the type that let pets sleep in your room, imagine trying to fall asleep while there's a big glowing thing in the same room.

I've heard that before...

"If a cat always lands on it's back, and toast always lands butter-side up, then what would happen if you put a piece of toast on a cat and drop it from a building? I think it would create a rip in space-time."

A cat always lands on its feet, and toast always lands jam side down. So if you strap on the toast to the back of a cat it can't land on either its feet, or the jam will be face up. And it can't land jam side down or the cat will be on its back. So it just hovers in the air.

You know it's much funnier when I don't have to explain it.

Right, but I would think that would be more of a grafting process than GM...
