Rising Euro hurts European economy and helps US/Japan

Post by Alex Moon »

The euro's hefty rise has hurt European factory exports to the benefit of cheaper U.S., Japanese and U.K goods. British manufacturing rose to its highest level of the year, close to the dividing line between growth and contraction.

 Old news. There are obvious disadvantages and advantages associated with a strong currency.

The E.U is much more a producer than an importer, so a strong Euro hurts the economy. Fortunately, most companies trade inside the E.U, and those won't feel the consequences,a t least directly.
