I'd say guns, especailly with Shep's ability to turn just about anything on a rant about them.

Gun issues are a close 2nd
"Right now we can tell you a report was filed by the family of a 12 year old boy yesterday afternoon alleging Mr. Michael Jackson of criminal activity. A search warrant has been filed and that search is currently taking place. Mr. Jackson has not been charged with any crime. We cannot specifically address the content of the police report as it is confidential information at the present time, however, we can confirm that Mr. Jackson forced the boy to listen to the Howard Stern show and watch the movie Private Parts over and over again."

But not among ourselves. I think he's asking which are the most fracturing themes.

Israel. IvP threads become so volatile and deadlocked that there's a ban on them.

American political isues and differences. Lots of US bashing and US horn-blowing gets rolled up in any debate, even if they start in arguments about guns, wars, civil rights, etc.... it almost always boils down to attacking or supporting US policies.

Fractures appear between the American and non-Americans on the board, and among the liberal and conservative Americans within.
Something about Libertarianism always bothered me. Then one day, I realized what it was:
Libertarian philosophy can be boiled down to the phrase, "Work Will Make You Free."

In Libertarianism, there is no Government, so the Bosses are free to exploit the Workers.
In Communism, there is no Government, so the Workers are free to exploit the Bosses.
So in Libertarianism, man exploits man, but in Communism, its the other way around!

If all you want to do is have some harmless, mindless fun, go H3RE INST3ADZ0RZ!!

With the almost even curve of Liberal/Moderate/Conservatives on this forum, It is easy for even the smallest issues to turn into rousing debates (and, in some cases, flame wars). As has been said, I am coming to the conclusion that just about ANYTHING can become a political debate...

The most debate spawning issue seems to be, progressive ideals versus individualism. IMHO of course.
They say, "the tree of liberty must be watered with the blood of tyrants and patriots." I suppose it never occurred to them that they are the tyrants, not the patriots. Those weapons are not being used to fight some kind of tyranny; they are bringing them to an event where people are getting together to talk. -Mike Wong

But as far as board culture in general, I do think that young male overaggression is a contributing factor to the general atmosphere of hostility. It's not SOS and the Mess throwing hand grenades all over the forum- Red
