The response will more likely be a couple Su-24's making a detour into Georgia to unload some napalm. The Russians have almost totally exterminated Chechen resistance and its near non-existent within the province. The last raiding party that crossed over was totally wiped out and turned out to be more foreigners then Chechens.

No, there are a few small bases in Georgia still worth destroying.

How the mighty have fallen, four years ago the Chechens could field something like five thousand men and mobilized thousands more with tanks and artillery. Eight years ago they could field even more and forced the Russian army to withdraw from the province. Now they're down to random bombings.

I think that if Russia put some effort into rebuilding Chechen infrastructure it'd be a lot harder for the terrorists to rally people to their cause.

Most of the population never supported them in the first place and the conflict only goes on because swarms of foreigners keep showing up to support the dozen or so native rebels the Russians haven't killed yet.
